Status: Contract-to-Hire, Part-time temporary role potentially leading to Full-Time

changemaker who is ready to take the role of Instructional Designer to the next level by creating resources for learners and instructors across a range of units and grade levels?

What You can expect as an Instructional Designer at Hiveclass

Curriculum Analysis & Planning

  • Conduct needs assessments to identify curriculum gaps and instructional goals.
  • Align curriculum with Shape America standards and state/national learning objectives.
  • Define learning outcomes and key performance indicators for digital lessons.
  • Collaborate with Learning Hub and internal teams to ensure content relevance.
  • Develop scope and sequence plans for lesson structures and learning progressions.
  • Identify multimedia and interactive elements to enhance engagement and accessibility.

Content Development

  • Design engaging, student-centered instructional materials for digital delivery.
  • Develop lesson scripts, storyboards, and learning activities aligned with curriculum goals.
  • Adapt instructional content for diverse learning needs, including accommodations for various abilities.
  • Create instructor guides and support materials for educators implementing the curriculum.

Review & Refinement

  • Conduct peer reviews and gather feedback from teachers and SMEs.
  • Revise and iterate content based on educator feedback and data insights.
  • Ensure instructional materials maintain pedagogical integrity and engagement.
  • Validate alignment with state/national standards and Hiveclass’ educational philosophy.

Finalization & Submission

  • Format and organize curriculum materials for final approval and publishing.
  • Work with technical teams to ensure seamless integration into the platform.
  • Conduct final quality assurance checks, ensuring consistency and adherence to instructional design principles.
  • Document curriculum design rationale and version history for future updates.
  • Provide training and support for internal teams and educators on curriculum implementation.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health, Kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience teaching PE in Primary and/or Secondary levels.
  • Experience in instructional design, with a focus on physical education or a closely related subject area.
  • Knowledge of SHAPE America standards for Physical Education.
  • Strong understanding of pedagogical practices, differentiated instruction, and standards-based education.
  • Experience with project management tools like Asana and document creation tools like Google Drive.
  • Experience working with teachers, educational decision-makers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience creating a variety of assessments and instructional materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with digital curriculum design.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following: Yoga & Mindfulness, Basketball, Dance, Fitness, Nutrition, Soccer, Pickleball, Self-Defense, Volleyball, or Field Hockey
  • Proficiency with digital content management.
  • Experience designing in-depth middle- or high-school PE lessons.
