ABOUT US
Hosta AI is a pioneer of image-to-estimate property assessment technology, using patented AI-powered spatial and material analytics to automate remote property assessments from just a few photos. Our cloud-based platform eliminates the need for on-site visits; delivering faster turnaround times, lower estimation costs, and objective structural insights for insurers, contractors, mortgage lenders, property managers, and home improvement platforms. Built for everyone in the business of protecting, repairing, and enhancing properties, Hosta AI's configurable APIs make it easy to integrate AI-driven assessment capabilities into existing workflows and applications.
ROLE SUMMARY
We’re looking for an AI/CV Research Engineer to lead the development of our core 3D vision and spatial intelligence capabilities. Day-to-day, you’ll be translating cutting-edge research into production-grade systems that power Hosta’s image-to-estimate platform - building the algorithms that turn a few photos of a room into precise spatial and material assessments. You’ll work at the intersection of 3D reconstruction, deep learning, and geometric reasoning, with direct impact on every assessment our platform delivers. Success looks like shipping robust spatial AI systems, not just writing about them.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Day-to-day duties include, but are not limited to:
- Design and implement state-of-the-art 3D reconstruction pipelines - building and scaling methods for accurate surface and scene reconstruction from consumer-grade photo inputs.
- Develop deep learning architectures for semantic 3D understanding - including object detection, segmentation, and spatial relationship reasoning within 3D volumes.
- Fuse classical 3D geometry with modern neural rendering and generative pipelines - integrating traditional geometric methods with learned representations to improve accuracy.
- Translate the latest research into production-quality Python code - rapidly implementing findings from recent research into high-performance, maintainable systems.
- Stay current with the research frontier and proactively apply relevant advances to Hosta’s roadmap - identifying and prototyping new techniques that could improve platform quality or scale.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Robotics, or a related technical field. Equivalent research or industry experience demonstrating deep expertise will be considered.
- Experience: 4+ years of professional or post-doctoral experience in Computer Vision and Deep Learning, with a demonstrated track record of shipping or publishing complex spatial AI systems. Expert-level Python and PyTorch proficiency required, including AI-assisted development practices. Mastery of 3D geometry fundamentals (coordinate transformations, projective geometry, 3D representations) and strong intuition for linear algebra and non-linear optimization. Startup or fast-paced product environment experience strongly preferred.
- Bonus Qualifications: Experience with SLAM or 3D mapping systems. Published research at top rated conferences, or a demonstrated record of translating research into production deployments.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Hosta AI offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including:
- Competitive salary, based on experience
- Equity - meaningful early-stage equity participation
- Flexible / Unlimited PTO
- Paid company holidays
- Healthcare - medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Paid parental leave
- 401k
