About the Job:

As a Technician in HyWatts’ Engineering team, you will be responsible for assembly and testing of Fuel Cells, Electrolyzers, Test Equipment, and installation, commissioning, and service of hydrogen-based Energy Storage systems. Working closely with Engineers, you will be an important part of developing a new and groundbreaking product and solving engineering problems. You will report to the CTO of HyWatts and work on-site in San Diego.

Tasks will include:

  • Assembly of Fuel Cells
  • Assembly and maintenance of specialized test equipment
  • Assembly, installation, commissioning and servicing of equipment at customer sites
  • Documentation of work per requirements
  • Reporting of failures and quality issues
  • Contributing to engineering problem solving

Qualifications:

You are interested in developing new technology and are experienced in mechanical and electrical assembly. You are a good communicator, structured and clear with documentation, and follow work procedures in a safe and efficient manner.

Required Skill and Experience:

  • Technical training as electrician or mechatronics technician
  • Knowledge of mechatronic systems
  • Experience working with high pressure flammable gases, preferably hydrogen
  • Safe work habits
  • Experience and training in lock out tag out work process
  • Ability to read, learn and understand Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Bill of Materials, Electrical Schematics.
  • Teamwork experience
  • Experience working per established procedures, instructions and norms
  • Strong working knowledge of windows computer operation, email, calendar, Microsoft Office capabilities (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to bend, twist, and lift at least 25 lbs. in narrow spaces
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to document performed work and observations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in leak detection
  • Experience with high-pressure fittings and tube bending
