illumicell AI turns live-cell imaging at the point of care into a versatile digital-biomarker platform. Developed in our Zurich R&D hub and refined at Harvard’s Pagliuca Life Lab, our AI-driven system began by redefining sperm analysis and now aims to bring the same real-time precision to any cell—blood, immune, or environmental—delivering on-the-spot diagnostic insights where they matter most.

We’re now looking for a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to build production-grade code across edge devices, cloud services, and lightweight UIs as we move toward FDA 510(k) submission.

Your Mission

Develop, optimize, and maintain the software that powers our real-time cell-analysis platform—ensuring speed, reliability, and regulatory readiness.

What You’ll Do

End-to-End Development

• Build software for Linux-based edge controllers (NVIDIA Jetson / i.MX-8): video capture, inference, hardware bring-up.
• Develop cloud micro-services (Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, GCP) for image processing and analytics.
• Create lightweight front-ends and REST/GraphQL APIs that integrate with clinical systems.

DevOps & Automation

• Implement CI/CD pipelines, unit/integration/system tests, and Docker/Kubernetes builds.
• Monitor performance, logging, and security across edge and cloud environments.

ML & Computer-Vision Integration

• Deploy TensorFlow or PyTorch models from the AI team; profile and optimize for real-time use.

Documentation & Compliance

• Produce traceability and verification evidence under IEC 62304 and ISO 13485.

Collaboration

• Work closely with hardware, optics, firmware, and QA/RA teams.
• Review contractor code and mentor future junior engineers.

What We’re Looking For

Technical Skills

• Strong Python and disciplined engineering practices (typing, tests, packaging, Git).
• Proven delivery of at least one end-to-end product (edge ↔ cloud ↔ web) in production.
• Linux/Yocto, shell scripting, Docker, and CI experience.
• Practical use of TensorFlow or PyTorch plus OpenCV; profiling and optimization skills.

Regulatory Mindset

• Commitment to code reviews, traceability, and evidence gathering for regulated environments.

Soft Skills

• Proactive communicator with ownership mentality.
• English fluency and ability to work CET hours.

Bonus Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)

• Modern C++/Rust, TypeScript/React, Kubernetes, GCP.
• Prior IEC 62304 or ISO 13485 exposure.
• French or German language skills.
