About The Virtual Wild

The Virtual Wild creates immersive digital experiences that blend storytelling, interactive technology, spatial environments, and real-world installations. Our work spans experiential spaces, simulation, projection systems, interactive storytelling, and emerging immersive technologies.

We are currently expanding an interactive installation environment involving Unity, depth cameras, multi-projector systems, spatial interaction, and real-time computer vision-driven experiences.

Position Overview

We are seeking an Interactive Unity & Computer Vision Developer with strong Unity experience and a solid background in computer vision, depth sensing, and real-time interactive systems.

This role is focused heavily on:

  • Unity-based interactive environments
  • Computer vision pipelines
  • Spatial tracking
  • Interaction triggering systems
  • Real-time performance
  • Physical installation reliability

The ideal candidate understands how to bridge sensor data and interactive environments in a way that feels seamless, stable, and responsive in real-world installations.

You will work alongside our internal technical lead and creative teams to help expand an active immersive environment while also contributing to reusable technical frameworks for future experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain interactive systems within Unity
  • Build reliable trigger and event systems tied to depth cameras and spatial interaction
  • Integrate computer vision and tracking systems into interactive environments
  • Support multi-projector interactive environments
  • Optimize latency and performance for real-time experiences
  • Troubleshoot camera calibration, tracking, and environmental issues
  • Collaborate closely with creative and engineering teams
  • Participate in demos, testing sessions, and technical reviews
  • Document workflows and technical implementations

Required Qualifications

  • Dallas-based and willing to work from The Virtual Wild studio when required
  • Strong Unity development experience
  • Experience with computer vision systems and spatial tracking
  • Experience with OpenCV, depth cameras, or related tracking technologies
  • Understanding of real-time interaction systems and event-driven architecture
  • Experience working with physical installations or immersive environments
  • Ability to diagnose and solve technical issues quickly
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving creative and technical environment
  • Able to take ownership and execute independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Azure Kinect, Intel RealSense, ZED cameras, or similar systems
  • Experience with projection mapping or multi-projector synchronization
  • Experience optimizing GPU or real-time rendering performance
  • Experience in experiential marketing, immersive technology, themed entertainment, museums, or simulation

What We’re Looking For

We value developers who combine creativity with operational discipline.

This role requires someone who can:

  • Build technically reliable interactive systems
  • Think spatially and architecturally
  • Communicate clearly and consistently
  • Handle ambiguity while still driving outcomes
  • Operate professionally in collaborative environments

This is a high-expectation engineering environment. We move quickly, expect ownership, and care deeply about execution, reliability, and communication.

Engagement Details

  • Initial engagement expected to last 1–3 months
  • Opportunity for continued work based on performance and future project needs
  • Candidate will have exposure to unique immersive and interactive installations currently in development
