Our mission is to catalyze impactful change by supporting innovators and deploying scalable, equitable technologies.Position SummaryThe Engineering Lead will oversee the design, development, and delivery of software solutions that support Evergreen Innovation’s programs and partners. This role will lead a small team of engineers, establish technical standards and practices, and collaborate cross-functionally to translate program needs into robust, maintainable systems.Key Responsibilities- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, promoting best practices in code quality, testing, and documentation.- Architect, design, and implement scalable backend services and APIs.- Partner with product, program, and data teams to define requirements and deliver features on time.- Oversee CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and application observability.- Ensure security, privacy, and accessibility standards are met.- Conduct code reviews and guide technical decision-making.- Manage vendor relationships and evaluate third-party tools and platforms.Qualifications- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a technical leadership role.- Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend language (e.g., Python, Node.js, Go, or Java) and experience with relational and NoSQL databases.- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).- Familiarity with data pipelines, ETL, and API integrations.- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with non-technical stakeholders.- Commitment to Evergreen Innovation’s mission and values.Preferred Experience- Experience in the social impact, nonprofit, or civic tech sectors.- Knowledge of GIS, data visualization, or public data systems.- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform or CloudFormation).Compensation and Benefits- Salary range: $120,000–$145,000 depending on experience and location.- Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with match; paid parental leave; and generous PTO.How to ApplyPlease submit your resume, a brief cover letter, and links to relevant work (e.g., GitHub, portfolio) to hiring@evergreeninno.org with the subject line “Engineering Lead – Your Name.” Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.Equal Opportunity StatementEvergreen Innovation is an equal opportunity employer.
