About the Role

As an integral part of the Lingco team, the Adoptions Specialist is responsible for tracking the full life cycle of the adoption process. This includes, but is not limited to: tracking district and state adoption schedules; tracking the release of RFPs; sizing opportunities and advising which opportunities should be pursued; creating and, where appropriate, coordinating task lists and deadlines for successful on-time submissions; optimizing processes for gaining efficiencies in sourcing correlations, writing narratives, and similar tasks.

The Adoptions Specialist will be responsible for the Spanish, French, and German K-12 product lines. This role can and should evolve to match the specific aptitudes the candidate brings.

What You’ll Do

As Adoptions Specialist, you’ll serve as the operational anchor for our district and state adoption strategy, driving execution and collaborating with internal teams to bring our language programs to classrooms across the country. You’ll take ownership of each stage of the adoption process and help us scale that process with clarity, accuracy, and efficiency.

Specifically, you will:

  • Own and manage the adoption lifecycle: from monitoring district and state schedules and analyzing RFPs to coordinating submissions and managing deadlines.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities: determine where Lingco should compete, based on product alignment, market potential, and team capacity.
  • Create and lead project timelines: build and oversee adoption calendars, task assignments, and cross-functional workflows to ensure high-quality, on-time submissions.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders: align with internal teams on content requirements, and with leadership on strategic priorities.
  • Manage external resources: coordinate with freelance writers, subject matter experts, and reviewers to scale and support adoption efforts.
  • Streamline processes: identify opportunities to automate, templatize, and improve systems related to adoption submissions and state compliance.
  • Provide market and process insights: synthesize field intelligence, postmortem results, and stakeholder feedback to iterate and improve our adoption strategy.
  • Contribute beyond the job title: support wherever needed to move key initiatives forward—whether drafting a correlation, reviewing a policy update, or brainstorming with the product team.

Desired Skills & Experience

We’re a fast growing startup! We need people who are able to consistently deliver on business targets, regardless of whether it’s technically in our personal job description. The ideal fit for us is someone who can execute on a plan, won’t offer a criticism without an accompanying solution, and is more interested in what they haven’t done yet than repeating a job they already had. Competencies and experience include:

  • A proactive can-do attitude that balances the ability to hit the ground running on one’s own initiative with the ability to listen and collaborate on priorities and business needs.
  • Knowledge of the US K-12 school market, with specific experience in World Languages being a plus.
  • Significant experience with a US K-12 publisher.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage complex interdependencies.
  • Knowledge of the adoption process and an interest in seeking out new and better ways to go about it.
  • Ability to maintain and manage a strong network of freelance resources to support Lingco’s adoption efforts.
  • Ability to listen to and synthesize team and market feedback in an effort to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Strong ability to prioritize appropriately and communicate accurately and effectively. We don’t make commitments we can’t keep!

Any other specialty you have? Data analysis, public speaking, graceful equestrian skills? Tell us about it! We look forward to hearing from you.
