At LinkedIn, we're looking to hire a Data Center Engineer with experience working in a production environment with 10000+ servers. LinkedIn’s Data Center Engineering is a global team working together to ensure the data center stays online and healthy. We are focused on working together towards continual improvement of our craft and striving to push the boundaries of excellence every day.

As an onsite Data Center Engineer, you will be responsible for hardware deployments and acting as a point of escalation for our contracted employees responsible for addressing server break fix tickets. You will also assist Senior Data Center Engineers with the deployment of network, storage, and server nodes within your region. You will have strong server and network hardware installation experience, network cabling experience, server break fix experience, experience troubleshooting Linux Kickstart issues, and Linux/Unix troubleshooting skills.

This role will be based in Richardson, TX.

This role, due to the business needs of the team, requires employees to be physically present in the specified office on a full-time basis. This helps to ensure you are best equipped to be successful and have the experience you need to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.

Responsibilities:
• Racking, cabling, and initial configuration (using internal tools) of all management network devices.
• Racking, cabling, and initial configuration of all console switches.
• On a daily basis review all break-fix tickets to ensure they meet Data Center Operations standards and escalate any concerns to the local LinkedIn Data Center Operations site supervisor.
• Provide quality control, after our third party vendor has completed installation, for all network and server cabinet deployments.
• Execution of LinkedIn’s build readiness tool that ensures server nodes are ready for the Linux Kickstart process.
• Remediation of all Linux Kickstart nodes that do not build properly.
• Troubleshooting of dark fiber issues and all network issues at LinkedIn’s regional POP’s.
• As requested, identify, tag, and remove from chassis all server nodes ready for decommissioning and prepare them for our third party ITAM vendor to pick up.
• On a daily basis, review LinkedIn’s Incident Dashboard, which logs electrical infrastructure faults, and act on any fatal or warning incidents, escalating to Senior Engineers as necessary.
• At the end of each month provide a “site health” metrics report to Data Center Operations leadership. A template for this report will be provided by Data Center Operations leadership.
• Act as a point of escalation for our contracted employees, who provide tier 1, tier 2, and tier 3 break-fix support.
• Assist with hardware installations that extend beyond the scope of work for quarterly organic growth initiatives. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to coordinate these installations and address any related technical challenges.
• Ensure LinkedIn’s data center house rules are being followed and immediately report any concerns to leadership.


Basic Qualifications:
• 1+ years of experience in a Data Center Engineering Role
• 1+ years of experience Linux troubleshooting experience
• 1+ years of server hardware troubleshooting experience
• 1+ years of physical layer network troubleshooting experience

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with network troubleshooting
• Experience with project management including organizational, verbal, written, and analytical skills
• Experience in large organization and interdependent team dynamics
• Experience scripting in BASH and/or Python

The pay range for this role is $85,000 to $140,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
