Forward Deployed Engineer
Locus Lock
Job Posting: Forward Deployed Engineer
Company: Locus Lock
Location: Westminster, CO (In-person)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Immediate Start
About Us:
Locus Lock is an innovative startup at the forefront of positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) technology. We enable mobility across ground, aerial, and space-based platforms, serving customers across government and commercial markets. Our mission is to deliver high-integrity, reliable, and precise location solutions for global applications.
Role Description:
As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Locus Lock, you will work directly with customers as the primary technical interface across the customer lifecycle. Responsibilities span pre-sales technical and proposal support, post-sales onboarding and integration, ownership of customer-facing technical documentation, and resolution of customer technical issues. You will also contribute technical input to marketing materials, support hardware production and inventory management, and influence the product roadmap through direct exposure to recurring customer challenges and feature requests.
The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation in PNT, GNSS, or navigation systems; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and a passion for external-facing problem-solving. Strong organizational and prioritization skills are essential. This role is well-suited for someone eager to collaborate closely with highly technical GNSS/PNT/GNC engineers, work hands-on with both hardware and software products, and support Sales and Business Development efforts in a fast-paced startup environment. Priorities may shift frequently, and occasional travel to customer sites and field-test locations will be required. While this is a highly technical role, it is not a core product development position; instead, it is focused on applying and representing Locus Lock’s technology in direct support of the founder and the Sales and Business Development functions to ensure successful customer engagement and adoption.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Sales Technical Support
- Support the Sales and Business Development functions by joining customer meetings, answering technical questions, analyzing technical requirements, and identifying capability gaps.
- Support proposal development through technical writing and engineering time and cost estimation.
- Collaborate with the core product development engineering team to customize solutions based on client needs.
- Provide technical input for marketing collateral.
Post-Sales Technical Customer Support
- Lead customer onboarding, implementation, and integration to ensure successful adoption of Locus Lock solutions.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for issue resolution and troubleshooting.
- Collect and synthesize customer feedback to inform product improvements.
- Develop and maintain customer-facing technical documentation.
- Travel to customer offices and field-testing sites as required.
Technical Collaboration
- Provide input on the product roadmap based on recurring customer issues and feature requests.
- Manage hardware inventory, production coordination, and shipping.
- Coordinate with Engineering on software deployment and release support.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related).
- 2+ years of experience in a highly technical, customer-facing role (e.g., Solutions Engineer, Technical Sales, Implementation or Integration Engineer).
- Familiarity with GNSS, RF, or inertial navigation systems.
- Experience with software product implementation and configuration.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Self-starter capable of managing multiple priorities with limited supervision.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience in a highly technical customer support role.
- Experience working in aerospace, defense, or adjacent deep-tech industries.
- Familiarity with tools such as GitHub/GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, and Linux environments.
- Basic proficiency in Python scripting and command-line interfaces.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technical teams and translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
What We Offer:
- Be part of a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Opportunity for growth and impact in an early-stage startup setting.
- Competitive compensation package combining salary and equity.
- Comprehensive benefits including health insurance, dental, 401k, paid vacation, paid sick leave, and paid holidays.
- Flexible work schedule.
The compensation range for this role is $110K - $140K/annual salary + stock options + benefits.
