Westminster, CO, USA
Job Posting: Embedded Software Test Engineer
Company: Locus Lock
Location: Westminster, CO (In-person)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Immediate Start
About Us:
Locus Lock is an innovative startup at the forefront of positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) technology. We enable mobility across ground, aerial, and space-based platforms, serving customers across government and commercial markets. Our mission is to deliver high-integrity, reliable, and precise location solutions for global applications.
Role Description:
Locus Lock is seeking an Embedded Software Test Engineer to build and own the software testing and validation infrastructure for our software-defined GNSS platform. You’ll work alongside software and signal processing engineers to develop automated test frameworks, improve release quality, and establish scalable software validation processes across our software platform. This role is focused on enabling engineers to ship reliable software faster through automation, performance analysis, and continuous validation rather than manual testing.
This is an opportunity to define how software quality is built into our development process from the ground up, establishing the tools, processes, and infrastructure that enable a growing engineering team to develop and release software with confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
Software Quality Infrastructure
- Design, build, and maintain the automated testing infrastructure for Locus Lock’s C++ software platform.
- Develop and maintain unit, integration, system, and regression test suites that scale with product development.
- Build internal tooling that improves software testing, validation, and developer workflows.
Release Engineering
- Own the software validation process from merge request through production release.
- Expand and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, regression detection, and release qualification.
- Help establish engineering best practices around software quality, testing, and release management.
Performance and Validation
- Develop automated performance benchmarks and generate reports to evaluate new features and identify regressions.
- Analyze software behavior using simulation, recorded datasets, and field test data to support feature development and engineering decisions.
Debugging and Collaboration
- Investigate software failures, reproduce bugs, identify root causes, and partner with developers to resolve issues.
- Work closely with software engineers to improve test coverage, software reliability, and development velocity.
Qualifications:
Required
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 2-6 years of professional software engineering, software test engineering, or software validation experience.
- Strong programming skills in Python and C/C++.
- Experience designing and implementing automated testing frameworks or developer tooling.
- Experience with Linux, Git, CI/CD, Docker, and modern software development workflows.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate technical findings through documentation, test reports, and performance analyses.
Preferred
- Experience developing software for robotics, autonomous systems, aerospace, defense, automotive, industrial automation, or other real-time systems.
- Experience building software validation, regression testing, and release processes.
- Experience developing software performance benchmarks, automated reporting, or analysis tools.
- Experience working with simulation or recorded datasets to validate software behavior.
- Familiarity with GNSS, localization, navigation, controls, sensor fusion, or signal processing.
- Experience working at an early-stage startup or on rapidly evolving software products.
What We Offer:
- Be part of a collaborative and innovative work environment
- Opportunity for growth and impact in an early-stage startup setting
- Competitive compensation package combining salary and equity
- Comprehensive benefits including health insurance, dental, 401k, paid vacation, paid sick leave, and paid holidays
- Flexible work schedule within an in-person work environment
The compensation range for this role is $120K-$140K/annual salary + stock options + benefits.
