About LyfPlus

Patients move between providers. Their care should continue—not start over.

LyfPlus is building connected healthcare infrastructure that helps pharmacies, hospitals, clinics and other providers coordinate referrals, prescriptions, follow-ups and patient journeys. Our work combines healthcare operations, provider software and network-level coordination to make care easier to navigate and more continuous.

We are building for the realities of existing healthcare systems

Our team works closely across product, engineering, clinical, commercial and expansion functions. We value people who combine strong professional judgment with curiosity, ownership and respect for the healthcare professionals and patients our technology serves.

About the role

LyfPlus is looking for a product-minded Full-Stack Software Engineer to build reliable software for connected healthcare workflows. You will work across user-facing applications, backend services, APIs and data systems that support providers as they coordinate referrals, prescriptions, follow-ups and other patient-care journeys.

This role suits an engineer who can move comfortably between frontend and backend development, make pragmatic architectural decisions and turn complex operational requirements into secure, intuitive product experiences.

What you’ll do

  • Design, build, test and maintain user-facing healthcare applications and backend services.
  • Translate product and healthcare workflow requirements into dependable technical solutions.
  • Develop responsive, accessible interfaces for pharmacies, hospitals, clinics and internal operational teams.
  • Build and maintain secure APIs, integrations, authentication flows and role-based access controls.
  • Model and manage clinical, operational and network data carefully and consistently.
  • Improve application performance, reliability, observability and maintainability.
  • Write automated tests and participate in code review, release management and production support.
  • Diagnose technical and workflow problems using logs, monitoring, user feedback and data.
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, clinical, operations and AI/data colleagues.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and engineering standards as the platform and team grow.
  • Protect sensitive healthcare and personal information through privacy-conscious engineering and secure development practices.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong professional experience building and shipping full-stack web applications.
  • Proficiency in modern JavaScript or TypeScript and a frontend framework such as React, Next.js or the framework used in the existing LyfPlus platform.
  • Experience building backend services and APIs using Node.js, Python or another relevant server-side technology.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, data modelling and SQL.
  • Experience with authentication, authorization, testing, Git and modern deployment workflows.
  • Ability to preserve usability and reliability while working with complex workflows and multiple user roles.
  • Strong debugging, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively from the Nairobi office.

Valuable, but not required

  • Experience with healthcare, health technology, fintech or another regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, containers, CI/CD and application observability.
  • Experience with offline-capable applications, low-bandwidth environments or mobile-responsive operational software.
  • Familiarity with interoperability standards, clinical terminology or healthcare integrations.
  • Experience working in an early-stage or rapidly evolving product environment.

Success in this role

Within your first months, you should be able to understand the major LyfPlus workflows, contribute production-quality features across the stack and improve at least one important area of product reliability, usability or engineering velocity.
