As an Engagement Specialist, engagement extends beyond bot management; it's about forging robust relationships underpinned by superior service, personalized engagement, and the continuous delivery of value. Engagement Specialists work on the front lines of the Expert Services team to ensure that our partners and the students they serve receive comprehensive support throughout every part of their experience with Mainstay. From working to customize student communication plans to helping universities understand the trends in student responses, Engagement Specialists have the opportunity to directly impact millions of learners every year as we work together to support them on their educational journeys, no matter what that journey may look like.
What You’ll Do
- Plan and execute learner communications:
- Working within our proprietary technology you’ll deploy customized student engagement campaigns for the Managed Services partners
- Partner with our script writing team and documented best practices to create calendars and timelines for optimal execution of campaigns.
- Analyze and Train Our Bots:
- Run and analyze ad hoc and auto-generated reports to understand how our platform is operating and where you can make improvements
- Share data and analysis with our Managed Service partners to help them understand impact and outcomes
- Help Us and Our Partners Grow:
- Meet with customers in partnership with Customer Success Managers to share best practices, insights and feedback in order to ensure we are all growing in our ability to impact their students.
- Gain insights and feedback from our partners and their bots to share back with Product and Engineering
What You’ll Have
- At least two years of experience in a higher-education or higher-education adjacent role
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Experience managing client/customer relationships
- Developed an understanding of the needs and strengths of learners who identify as first-generation, low-income, or from an underrepresented population in higher education

The minimum pay for this role is between $65,000 and $70,000 + incentive pay depending on the level you’re hired at. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years & depth of experience, and some role dependent factors that can include certifications and software expertise. We also hope you’ll consider and be open to what else we provide outside of our base compensation. This includes our benefits, perks, equity, and other aspects of our overall employer brand including our culture which is built on our mission, vision and values.
