Matchaful offers sustainable Japanese matcha and active botanical nutrition with 8 café locations in NYC. We are seeking a caring and diligent Director of Retail Operations to lead the growth of our retail presence.Overview: Manage all aspects of café operations across multiple NYC locations; ensure standards, customer satisfaction, profitability, and staff development; report to CEO; oversee Ops & Sourcing Manager, General Manager, Hiring Manager, Training Manager, Store Leads, and other café management roles.Job Requirements: 5-10 years managing multi-location restaurant/café groups and teams; 5+ years with restaurant management software/finances (Marketman, Square preferred); successful track record opening new stores in NYC and scaling; specialty coffee/tea experience preferred.Job Responsibilities:Drive Sales & Profitability, Operational Improvements: Achieve sales goals; own business performance; enforce standards; address underperformance; improve operations; evaluate locations; develop policies and procedures; ensure training standards; maximize sales and profits; control food and labor costs; ensure safety compliance; manage emergencies and maintenance; oversee inventory and quality; handle customer feedback; execute marketing promotions.People Development & Team Building: Foster teamwork and accountability; lead with senior team; conduct reviews; staffing and training for existing and new stores; oversee hiring process; inspire store staff to meet goals; ensure standards and compliance; lead weekly management meetings; provide scheduling feedback; conduct annual reviews.New Project Development: Assist with new store development (construction, equipment, grand openings); coordinate cross-functional teams; ensure cost-effective implementation; standardize processes.Financial Management: Oversee finances and COGS via Marketman; set financial goals; manage budgets; monitor revenue/expenses/profitability; identify cost optimizations; ensure timely financial reporting; evaluate expenditures; analyze store financials; partner with managers to optimize sales and costs.Working Conditions: Full-time; evenings/weekends/holidays as needed.Physical Requirements: Lift up to 50 lbs.Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $90,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experienceBenefits: Dental, Health, Vision; Employee discounts; 3 weeks PTO; Stock OptionsEducation: Bachelor’s (Required)License/Certification: NYC Food Protection CertificateTravel: 100% around NYC (Required)Work Location: In person
