We currently have (6) cafe locations in NYC, and we’re expanding this summer into Brooklyn! Our small team is passionate about leading the plant-based matcha + food movement in a sustainable, elevated and respectable way.The Matchaful Culinary Lab in Clinton Hill will be the largest space we've been in yet, and it will feature our first dedicated culinary production facility as well as our signature Matchaful Café. We make all of our concentrates for our creative lattes—such as the beloved ginger zing, secret garden, and cacao dream—in our own kitchen. We’ve expanded our plant-based, gluten-free offerings to include a yuzu donut, vegan soft serve, matcha sunflower butter oats, and matcha sesame noodles, among others. The Matchaful Culinary Lab will be a space for innovation, experimentation, and nourishment.As Matchaful’s Prep Chef, you will be responsible for the preparation of our in-house food offerings, cleaning and organizing the space, and working directly under our Head Chef and Culinary Manager.Lots of growth opportunities exist as Matchaful expands our culinary offerings and cafe footprint this year! We are open to interviewing all levels of experience to find the right fit—please email your resume and a brief cover letter about why you’d be a great fit for our team to retail@matchaful.com.About the Prep Chef role:- 3-4 days/week minimum commitment- Prepare food to meet orders for all cafés daily- Build prep kits for kitchen and set up production for success- Communicate on Slack with managers about day to day tasks- Follow best kitchen practices and all kitchen protocols- Accurately label and store food items- Maintain ingredient stocks- Wash dishes and conduct daily cleaning tasks- Must be able to commit to working early hours- Must be willing to obtain a Food Protection Certificate if not already certified- Record all production events in production log and kitchen waste log- Assist with End of Month inventory counts as neededAbout You:- Great team player; passionate about plant-based food and matcha- Awesome communicator; hardworking and efficient- Open to constructive feedback; works well under pressure- Physical stamina to stand for long periods; able to lift up to 50 lbs- Attention to detail; loves organization and improving kitchen spaces- 2-3 years of professional kitchen experience (commissary experience a plus)- Culinary school a plus (not necessary); Food Protection Certificate a plus- Loves learning and wants to grow with Matchaful
