About the Role:Reporting to the Manager of Education, you will be responsible for leading the daily operations and educational programming at Matchaful’s brand new Ritual Bar and Stone Mill in Williamsburg. The Ritual Bar consists of a limited-seating tea tasting counter, focused on intimate experiences, storytelling, and tea education. Visitors will reserve seats for hands-on tea classes, guided tastings, and exclusive offerings.You will receive hands-on education to lead reservation-only tastings and classes, execute unique beverages and experiences from our menu of rotating seasonal offerings with utmost precision, and become an invaluable source of knowledge about Japanese tea. As Experience Lead, you will own grinding operations and command a strong understanding of proper equipment handling and production schedule, including loading tencha leaves and packing fresh ground matcha, maintaining a consistent cleaning schedule, and being able to walk guests through the grinding process from leaf to tin. Finally, you will maintain a pristine, aesthetically pleasing, and organized environment, and uphold the highest level of customer service at both the Ritual Bar and in our cafes—all while forging unique connections with our staff and our guests. Requirements:- 2+ years hospitality leadership and/or training experience; 1+ year specialty tea; flexible schedule and full-time availability (40 hours/week incl. Core responsibilities include:- Ensure Ritual Bar and Grinding Room operate successfully; devise plans to achieve monthly sales goals; maintain inspection readiness and support the cafe to maintain an A grade; attend weekly leadership meetings; communicate equipment issues and shortages; conduct quality checks; coordinate with Store Lead for commissary orders; label/date all products; conduct inventory counts and track food waste; keep retail stocked and storefront impeccable; keep Ritual Bar areas clean; collaborate with cafe team for seamless experiences.- Uphold educational mission: track/manage reservations; lead public-facing programming; provide detailed class reports; lead education on matcha grinders; lead new employee education; assist with events and tastings.- Own daily grinding operations: maintain product quality standards; monitor inventory and adjust production; maintain production schedule; ensure equipment is in good operating condition and report issues promptly.
