As part of our rapid growth, we are now looking for a Financial Controller to join us at this crucial point in our evolution. This role is essential for ensuring our organisation's financial health and compliance, enabling us to maximise our impact.

The role will eventually report to the Finance Director / CFO, but until this role is recruited you will report to the COO.

About you:

Mevo is a rapidly growing startup and the pace of change and the challenge shouldn't be underestimated. You’ll need to be happy creating structure and building structure from early stages. As an experienced Financial Controller, you must excel in detail, achieve high standards, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. We're a close team and you will need to be outgoing and happiest working in teams. Experience of Debt financing and some aspects of strategic finance, as well as the cement or construction industry would be a real advantage.

  • Qualifications - Degree in accounting or related field
  • Professional body certification - You're likely to be a member of one of the following: ACCA, CAI, CIMA, ICAEW
  • Experience as a Financial Controller - You can demonstrate over 5 years' of experience in a comparably complex role
  • Accounting knowledge and experience - You are the most senior Accountant in the business and for few months you will be the most senior finance person as well. You'll thrive under these circumstances, but you'll be relied upon as the expert.
  • UK GAAP - You'll be experienced in and very comfortable with UK GAAP in all relevant areas
  • Industry Knowledge - Knowing your way around cement, construction, building industry or startups would be a great advantage for you to have
  • Technology - Microsoft Office (and of course Excel), Teams, SharePoint and Xero are all daily tools of your trade
  • Regulatory changes - As the expert you will keep on top of and up to speed with all regulatory changes
  • Communications - You will need to work across the business and be comfortable communicating messages with Scientists or the Executive Team

  • A great leader: You’ll be very comfortable taking concepts and challenges and inspiring others to deliver. You relish the privilege of leadership and you’re experienced in leading remote teams.
  • An excellent team member: You'll thrive as part of a dynamic team and will enjoy autonomy and responsibility as well as being accountable for results
