We are building the largest vehicle subscription and financial services platform for commercial drivers and transport operators across Africa. Our proprietary technology is enabling Drivers with no banking history to access low to zero-emission vehicles, insurance, digital wallets, and eHailing services on a subscription basis. From 2019 to 2020, we scaled from 200 to more than 10,000 drivers and have raised more than $40m to achieve our mission. Our goal is to serve 14 million gig drivers across Africa's $250B mobility industry. In the short term, we are scaling our impact to 100,000 drivers across 10 cities in 3 countries.

MAX has raised $70m+ in funding to date, from strategic and financial investors including Lightrock (member of the LGT Group), Global Ventures, Yamaha, Mastercard, Shell Foundation, Novastar, Goodwell Investments, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Techstars, and DLM Capital. Its Series B first-close of $31m was delivered in December 2021 after which the company announced plans to scale Vehicle Subscriptions, Fintech Products, and Electric Vehicles (EVs) across Africa. Max expects that 31% of its fleet will be made up of EVs by 2024 and 69% by 2026.

Role Overview: Learning and Development Supervisor

The Learning and Development Supervisor at MAX is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of training and development programs for our employees, with a focus on enhancing their skills and knowledge in the dynamic field of mobility solutions. This role involves assessing training needs, creating learning materials, and collaborating with various departments to ensure our workforce is well-equipped to excel in their roles. The Learning and Development Supervisor plays a crucial role in fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within the organization.

What You’ll Do:

Training Needs Analysis:

  • Conduct regular assessments to identify training needs and skill gaps across the organization.
  • Collaborate with department heads and managers to understand specific departmental training requirements.
  • Analyze performance metrics and feedback to determine training priorities.

Training Program Design and Development:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive training plan and curriculum.
  • Create engaging and effective training materials, including e-learning modules, workshops, and resources.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure the accuracy and relevance of training content.

Training Delivery:

  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops, both in-person and virtually.
  • Monitor the progress and performance of trainees and provide constructive feedback.
  • Utilize various training methodologies and technologies to enhance the learning experience.

Learning Management System (LMS):

  • Administer the LMS to track and manage employee training records.
  • Ensure the LMS is up-to-date with the latest training resources and materials.
  • Troubleshoot LMS issues and provide technical support to users.

Evaluation and Improvement:

  • Assess the effectiveness of training programs through evaluations and feedback.
  • Continuously improve and update training materials and methods.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in learning and development.

Budget Management:

  • Manage the training budget effectively, ensuring cost-efficient training programs.
  • Source and evaluate external training vendors as needed.


  • Ensure that all training programs are compliant with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Keep abreast of changes in laws and regulations related to employee training.

Team Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the HR team and other departments to align training initiatives with business goals and objectives.
  • Foster a culture of learning and development within the organization
