What You’ll Do:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive financial strategy aligned with the company's mission and growth objectives.
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities to support business expansion and scalability.
- Provide strategic financial guidance to the executive team and contribute to decision-making processes.
- Drive fundraising efforts by working with the CEO and Head of Data and Strategy on financial presentations for potential investors.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to existing investors
- Collaborate with the executive team to articulate the financial story and value proposition to investors.
- Establish and maintain robust financial controls, policies, and systems to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Implement and optimize financial processes to accommodate the unique needs of a marketplace serving SMB retail businesses and online marketplaces.
- Work with cross functional teams to identify opportunities to maximize margins.
- Lead negotiations with suppliers and vendors to secure favorable terms and lower annual contracts.
- Assess and renegotiate existing contracts to optimize cost structures and increase profitability.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks through proactive analysis and strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and other relevant legal requirements.
- Collaborate with legal and regulatory teams to address compliance issues related to marketplace operations.
- Manage a lean finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for finance team members.
- Cultivate a positive and inclusive work environment.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience as a finance leader in a technology startup environment, preferably from Series A and beyond.
- Strong financial modeling, analysis, and forecasting skills.
- Experience in fundraising and managing investor relations.
- Knowledge of marketplace technology business models and the unique financial considerations for small retail businesses.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- CPA or CFA certification is a plus.
