About MediCircle
MediCircle is building the national infrastructure to make prescription drugs affordable for every American and financially sustainable for the U.S. healthcare system.
We are an early-stage healthcare technology startup that drives prescription savings for patients and payers by reclaiming, recertifying, and redistributing unused medications. With MediCircle, patients receive their medications at no out-of-pocket cost, while payers, plan sponsors, and value-based care groups realize significant savings on their drug spend. To date, we have reclaimed over $40 million worth of medications, and launched with market-leading customers, including national VBCs, PBMs, and regional health systems.
If our mission resonates with you, and you are energized by building real-world solutions that directly impact the lives of millions of patients, we would love to hear from you.
Role Overview
You will partner with MediCircle’s Head of Technology to architect and scale the technical foundation powering our national medication redistribution platform. As our second engineering hire, you will own end-to-end product development and turn early prototypes into reliable, secure, and scalable systems that support real-world pharmacy and patient workflows in a highly-regulated environment. You will design core infrastructure, ship customer-facing features, and set engineering standards that will define the company’s growth and success for years to come. The ideal candidate thrives on ownership, can work across the entire software stack, ships fast without sacrificing quality, and loves translating complex operational needs into user-centric software.
Responsibilities
Full stack development: Build and ship end-to-end features across the backend and frontend; work primarily in Python/Django on the backend and TypeScript/React on the frontend
Fluency in data modeling: Design and evolve data models that support pharmacy and healthcare workflows
Infrastructure and DevOps: Maintain and improve deployment pipelines, database health, monitoring, and observability; troubleshoot production issues as they arise, in a timely and efficient manner
Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate with non-technical teammates to turn operational problems into software solutions
Speed of execution: Help improve development velocity by reducing bottlenecks and improving existing systems
Detail oriented and organized: Write production-quality code with attention to data integrity, auditability, and compliance
Security and compliance by design: Account for HIPAA/PHI handling and state/federal requirements when building out new workflows, without sacrificing speed or quality
Requirements
Builder DNA: You’ve built real systems from scratch - data models, APIs, workflows, front-ends, etc
Full Stack Ownership: You’re comfortable working end-to-end across Python (ideally using Django), TypeScript, and React
Execution Engine: You can take loosely defined problems and turn them into shipped, production-grade features without needing perfect specs or constant supervision
Highly Organized and Detail-Oriented: You care deeply about data integrity, edge cases, and not breaking downstream systems
Systems Thinker: You design software that scales, stays maintainable, and doesn’t become a compliance or ops nightmare six months later
Product-Minded: You build with real users in mind (pharmacists, patients, providers, etc) and sweat the minor details in the workflows, not just in the code
Preferred Qualifications
You have experience with PostgreSQL
You have experience with AWS and/or exposure to cloud infrastructure maintenance and development
You have DevOps experience
You have healthcare/pharmacy exposure and familiarity with regulated ops (clinical, pharmacy, payer/PBM, or analogous); if not, you have previously worked and/or currently work in regulated or compliance-heavy environments
You have early-stage startup experience or similar experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments
