You will support the implementation and monitoring of HSE standards to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations. You will serve as the first point of contact for HSE matters within your assigned city, providing guidance on risk controls, incident reporting, and safety compliance, while maintaining high safety awareness and supporting emergency preparedness and hazard management.

What you'll do:

  • Support the development of OHS policies and programs
  • Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)
  • Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures
  • Review existing policies and measures, and update them according to legislation
  • Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives
  • Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)
  • Investigate/record incidents, accidents, complaints and cases of ill-health
  • Compile and analyze HSE statistics
  • Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
  • Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
  • Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims
  • Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information
  • Conduct regular and scheduled HSE Audits
  • Develop, implement, and monitor ESG policies to ensure regulatory compliance and responsible business practices.
  • Support ESG risk identification, governance frameworks, and ensure ethical standards, transparency, and accountability.
  • Collect, analyze, and report ESG data for internal assessments and external disclosures, adhering to recognized standards.
  • Other roles and responsibilities of a Health, Safety, and Environment Office

What you'll require:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in a science-related field
  • Minimum two years cognate experience in health and safety.
  • HSE qualifications such as NEBOSH IGC or equivalent
  • In-depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSHA/EPA, Nigeria Factory Act (2004)) and procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organization skills
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to think critically
