What You’ll Do:

• Architect AI-Driven Products: Lead the development of features that leverage the latest in LLMs and generative AI, using tools like Vertex AI to create indispensable tools for the research community.
  
• Engineer with Speed & Precision: Build and maintain robust back-end services using Python (FastAPI and Flask), ensuring our platform is as fast as it is reliable.
  
• Master the Data Lifecycle: Manage and optimize our data layer across MySQL and BigQuery, ensuring our enterprise clients have seamless access to the insights they need.
  
• Leverage the Modern AI Stack: Integrate advanced AI workflows into our development process, utilizing tools like Claude Code or Gemini CLI to accelerate iteration and maintain high code quality.
  
• Collaborate Across the Stack: Work within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem to deploy scalable solutions, and occasionally dive into our Vue.js frontend to ensure a cohesive user experience.
  
• Bridge the Gap Between Lab and Code: Bring your firsthand understanding of academic publishing to the table, helping us design features that resonate with published authors and PhD-level experts.

Who You Are:

• Python Power User: You have extensive experience building production-grade applications with FastAPI or Flask.
  
• AI Native: You don't just "use" AI; it’s a core part of your development workflow. You are a "whiz" at leveraging CLI-based AI tools to build and ship products faster.
  
• Cloud Fluent: You are deeply comfortable within the Google ecosystem, specifically GCP, BigQuery, and Vertex AI.
  
• Academic Insider: You have experience in the academic publishing world. Ideally, you’ve been through the peer-review process yourself and understand the unique needs of researchers.
  
• Database Disciplined: You are highly proficient in MySQL and understand how to structure data for both performance and clarity.
  
• Strategic Builder: You don’t just take tickets; you think about the user experience and the long-term scalability of the product.
  
• Excellent Collaborator: You can translate complex technical challenges into clear updates for the broader team and move projects forward in an agile environment.
