Data engineer
OKO
The data engineer is working alongside the co-founder and VP product of OKO and will be responsible for building the tools to accelerate the creation of innovative climate insurance products for agriculture. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with demonstrated experience and ideally some training in meteorological science. Additionally, successful candidates will be well-organized and detail oriented, and will work well in a collaborative / innovative team environment.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Working closely with VP of product to understand data requirements and develop data solutions to support the business growth of climate insurance products
- Maintaining and growing the existing data infrastructure for climate insurance products
- Designing, developing and automating high quality data management to improve dataset usability
- Developing and maintaining scalable and robust data pipelines using related technologies
- Implementing best practices for data modelling and data integration
- Monitoring, troubleshooting and resolving issues relating to data pipelines
- Staying current with industry trends and advancement in data engineering
- Contributing to the developments and enhancement of data engineering standards, practices and documentation
- Processing common geospatial data types: both raster (GeoTIFF/COG/ZARR/NetCDF/GRIB) and vector (SHP/GeoJSON/others)
Preferred Experience
- 3 years of experience (training in meteorological science would be a big plus)
- Languages: fluent in English. French or Hebrew is a plus
- Technical: Experienced in DevOps, Linux, Microsoft Azure. Advanced proficiency in R
