About Oly

The resale and circular economy is booming, but selling second-hand items at scale is still a huge challenge. Every item is unique, creating listings is time-consuming, and managing multiple platforms is complex. Oly solves this by automating the entire resale process:

• Cross-platform intelligence: We know how each resale marketplace works and tailor listings for maximum conversion.
• Automated listings: From just an image, Oly generates optimized product descriptions.
• Smart process automation: From repricing after 90 days to identifying new channels for each category, Oly helps sellers sell more, faster.

We are a pre-seed startup, having graduated from Techstars by eBay in San Francisco, and in 2024 we secured funding from eBay Ventures. We already have traction with paying international clients, and are now building our core team ahead of our seed round to continue scaling globally.

Our mission is simple: make it easier for brands, retailers, and consumers to keep products in circulation instead of throwing them away.

The Role

We’re looking for a Founding Engineer / CTO to join our core founding team and help us build the operating system for the second-hand economy.

This is a founding-level position: you’ll start as the hands-on builder of Oly’s core platform and grow into the Chief Technology Officer, leading engineering strategy, hiring your own team, and shaping the technological future of Oly. With the CEO, you will be a key player during planning and investor’s roadshows.

What You’ll Do

• Iterate on V1.0: Take ownership of Oly’s first product version, improving it, scaling it, and laying the foundations for long-term growth.
• Lead the tech roadmap: Translate Oly’s product vision into a clear, executable technology strategy and roadmap.
• AI-powered automation: Implement systems that use AI/ML to automate listings, optimize pricing, and manage sales across channels.
• Marketplace & e-commerce integration: Build and refine tools that connect seamlessly with resale marketplaces and retailers.
• Future leadership: Transition into a CTO role, growing and managing a high-performing engineering team.

You’re perfect for this role if you are/have:

• Startup mindset: You’ve built products from scratch (or close to it) in a fast-moving environment and thrive on iteration.
• Hands-on builder: You have at least 2 years of experience as a developer and enjoy owning code end-to-end.
• Quality-focused: You’re methodical in your work, but understand the importance of fast iteration. You know how to balance quality and results in a startup context. Strong knowledge of software architecture, backend/frontend development, and scaling early-stage products.
• AI & automation passion: You’re deeply interested in technology and want to build your career as a leader in this space. You love exploring (or already have experience with) AI/ML, automation, or marketplace integrations.
• Product vision & communication: You care about who you’re building for. You can translate product vision into technical execution and enjoy working closely with non-technical teammates.
• Structured & ambitious leader: You’re organized, forward-looking, and eager to step up into the CTO role — building and managing your own team as Oly scales.
