A rapidly scaling, venture-backed AI company serving top-tier financial institutions is hiring its first dedicated People Operations leader. The business is at an inflection point, with a strong product-market fit and accelerating headcount growth. This role will build the operational backbone of the People function.
This is not a maintenance HR role. It is a hands-on build role designed for someone who has operated inside a high-growth environment and understands how to design structure amid scale.

The Mandate
You will design and run the core people infrastructure across the employee lifecycle. This includes building repeatable processes, implementing tracking systems, and ensuring compliance across domestic and international teams. The company operates lean. This role requires someone comfortable executing independently while collaborating closely with leadership.
Core Responsibilities
People Infrastructure & Process Design
- Build and formalize onboarding frameworks that scale with headcount growth
- Create structured performance review cycles and supporting documentation
- Develop compensation tracking systems and reporting frameworks
- Implement and maintain internal tracker sheets for headcount planning, role changes, and workforce analytics
- Establish clean, auditable workflows for promotions, transfers, and exits
- Evaluate and optimize People systems (current environment includes a PEO-based stack)
Compliance & Operations
- Oversee domestic and international background checks
- Ensure employment compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Maintain accurate employee documentation and records
- Partner with Finance on compensation updates and payroll inputs
- Support benefits administration through external providers
Manager & Team Enablement
- Serve as a resource for managers on performance conversations and process consistency
- Build practical templates and guides to standardize management practices
- Support engagement initiatives and internal communications
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Recruiting, and executive leadership on workforce planning and operational initiatives
- Lead ad hoc operational projects related to scaling the organization
Profile
- 5–10 years of experience in People Operations or HR Operations
- Bachelor's degree required
- Experience inside a startup or scale-up environment undergoing rapid growth
- Demonstrated success building processes from scratch, not just maintaining them
- Comfortable operating within a lean team structure
- Experience supporting international employees and multi-jurisdiction compliance
- Strong project management capability; able to run initiatives end-to-end
- Experience with modern HR systems (Rippling or similar strongly preferred)
- Highly detail-oriented with strong discretion
- Operationally minded and execution-driven
