Why Charlie Health?

Millions of people across the country are navigating mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and eating disorders, but too often, they’re met with barriers to care. From limited local options and long wait times to treatment that lacks personalization, behavioral healthcare can leave people feeling unseen and unsupported.

Charlie Health exists to change that. Our mission is to connect the world to life-saving behavioral health treatment. We deliver personalized, virtual care rooted in connection—between clients and clinicians, care teams, loved ones, and the communities that support them. By focusing on people with complex needs, we’re expanding access to meaningful care and driving better outcomes from the comfort of home.

As a rapidly growing organization, we're reaching more communities every day and building a team that’s redefining what behavioral health treatment can look like. If you're ready to use your skills to drive lasting change and help more people access the care they deserve, we’d love to meet you.

About The Role

We are looking for a People Operations Manager to join our growing People team at Charlie Health. This role is a critical operational and strategic leader responsible for owning and scaling our People Operations lifecycle, systems, and team execution as we continue to grow.

As the People Operations Manager, you will oversee end-to-end employee lifecycle processes through direct team leadership while owning the strategy and execution of our core People systems, including UKG and integrated tools. This role is highly focused on systems optimization, automation, compliance, and operational excellence, ensuring our People infrastructure scales efficiently while maintaining a high-quality employee experience.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in complex, high-volume environments, brings strong systems thinking, and can balance execution with long-term process design.

We’re a team of passionate, forward-thinking professionals eager to take on the challenge of the mental health crisis and play a formative role in providing life-saving solutions. If you’re inspired by our mission and energized by the opportunity to increase access to mental healthcare and impact millions of lives in a profound way, apply today.

Responsibilities

  • Provide experienced operational leadership to run People Operations at scale, with primary ownership of systems, automation, and data integrity
  • Own People Operations systems and workflows across the employee lifecycle, including configuration, optimization, and integrations
  • Drive automation and process improvements to reduce manual work, eliminate single points of failure, and improve consistency and accuracy
  • Translate operational and compliance requirements into scalable system solutions that support how People Operations functions in practice
  • Establish, document, and enforce operational standards and controls across lifecycle processes, compensation changes, and review cycles
  • Oversee workload distribution across the People Ops team to ensure work is handled at the appropriate level and leadership capacity is preserved for scale and risk management
  • Monitor Jira and HR intake trends to identify systemic issues, volume risks, and opportunities for efficiency improvements
  • Ensure data integrity and audit readiness across People Operations systems, reporting, and documentation
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Payroll, Benefits, Finance, IT, and Talent to ensure cross-functional alignment and issue resolution
  • Own vendor relationships for People Ops–managed tools and platforms
  • Lead and develop People Operations team members, focusing on quality, consistency, and sustainable operating coverage rather than day-to-day task execution

Qualifications

  • Able to work a hybrid schedule of 4 days per week in our NYC office and located within a commutable distance
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5–8 years of experience in People Operations or Human Resources, with at least 2–3 years in a people management or senior operational role
  • Strong experience owning HRIS platforms and People systems (UKG experience strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience leading process automation, systems integrations, and operational scaling efforts
  • Strong knowledge of employee lifecycle processes, compliance requirements, and audit preparation
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing competing priorities in a high-growth environment
