About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Workday HRIS Specialist to serve as a strategic and technical leader within our HRIS team. This role is designed for an experienced Workday professional with deep functional and technical expertise who can independently own configuration, integrations, governance, and optimization across the Workday ecosystem.

The individual in this position will act as a subject matter expert across core modules, ensuring Workday is architected, configured, and maintained in a scalable, compliant, and business-aligned manner. This role requires strong end-to-end system thinking, the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders, and the discipline to uphold system integrity through structured governance and testing practices.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Workday HRIS Specialist plays a critical role in enabling the organization by ensuring HR systems are architected, governed, and optimized to support business strategy, compliance, and operational excellence. Acting as a senior liaison between HR, IT, Payroll, Finance, Business Systems, AI Center of Excellence, and business leaders, this role translates complex organizational requirements into scalable, secure, and sustainable Workday solutions.

Through advanced configuration expertise, integration oversight, data governance discipline, and process optimization, the Senior Specialist strengthens enterprise decision-making, enhances employee experience, and ensures system integrity across the full Workday ecosystem.

Workday Administration & Configuration

  • Serve as a subject matter expert across Workday modules including but not limited to: HCM, Absence, Compensation, Security, Integrations, Payroll, and Recruiting.
  • Architect and configure complex business processes, security frameworks, and cross-module functionality with a strong understanding of upstream/downstream system impact.
  • Design scalable solutions aligned to governance standards and long-term system strategy.
  • Oversee and execute configuration changes using structured change management, documentation, including rigorous testing in Sandbox and Production validation.
  • Partner with all stakeholders to ensure system readiness, compliance, and integration integrity.

Workday Releases & Adoption

  • Lead bi-annual Workday releases, including review of release notes, adoption planning, testing, documentation, and rollout of selected features.
  • Track and assess upcoming Workday enhancements for future implementation.
  • Support configuration, testing, demos, communications, and knowledge sharing related to new functionality.

Reporting, Data & Integrations

  • Design and maintain advanced custom reports, calculated fields, dashboards, and data models
  • Partner with stakeholders, HRIS, and Data Analytics teams to ensure reporting accuracy, data integrity, and executive-level insights
  • Conduct data audits, reconciliations, and root cause analysis for discrepancies
  • Build, test, and load EIBs; support data audits, reconciliations, and issue resolution as required.

Documentation, Training & Enablement

  • Own and maintain documentation for configurations, annual processes, and system enhancements.
  • Develop knowledge articles, training materials, and short video demos to support HR partners and end users.

Collaboration & Team Support

  • Collaborate closely with HR, IT, and business partners while adhering to governance and escalation paths.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively, seeking clarification when needed and contributing to team priorities, including helping reduce backlog, and supporting the organization through workflow platforms.

Required Qualifications

Workday Experience

  • 3+ years of hands-on Workday functional and technical configuration experience
  • Solid understanding of general technology concepts and system lifecycle
  • Comfortable using Workday Community as a primary research and troubleshooting resource
  • Strong respect for testing, validation, and change management standards
  • High attention to detail and follow-through
