About Global Vehicle Group

Global Vehicle Group (GVG) is the UK’s largest and most diverse B2B leasing broker. Through our specialist brands – Global Vans, Fleet Alliance, XLCR and LCV Group – we manage over 70,000 vehicles with assets under management exceeding £2.5 billion.

This role is primarily based at Global Vans in Bristol but with some travel across our other business areas in the UK.

The Role

As People & Culture Business Partner for the UK business, you’ll play a key role in shaping how we attract, manage, develop, and support our people in a high-performance automotive and sales-driven environment.

This role focuses on building strong People & Culture foundations—creating modern, fit-for-purpose processes and policies—while supporting the business through a group-wide standardisation programme. You’ll work closely with leaders to balance commercial agility with consistency, compliance, and a positive employee experience.

What I will I be doing

  • Partnering with senior leaders and managers across sales and operational teams to deliver practical, commercially focused People & Culture solutions.
  • Designing, implementing, and embedding core UK People & Culture processes and policies, including performance management, absence, disciplinary and grievance, onboarding, reward, wellbeing, and employee engagement.
  • Leading the UK rollout of group People & Culture standards, frameworks, and ways of working, ensuring they are practical and effective in a fast-paced automotive sales environment.
  • Acting as a trusted change partner during periods of transformation, supporting leaders through standardisation, integration, and continuous improvement.
  • Providing expert guidance on employee relations matters, handling complex cases with confidence, consistency, and strong UK employment law knowledge.
  • Supporting the implementation and optimisation of People & Culture systems (HRIS), ensuring they enable efficient processes, accurate data, and a positive user experience for managers and employees.
  • Driving wellbeing initiatives that support sustainable performance, resilience, and a positive workplace culture.
  • Championing equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) initiatives, ensuring fair, inclusive, and consistent people practices
  • Supporting people development through performance, talent, and succession processes, helping managers identify and grow future capability.
  • Coaching and developing line managers to build strong people leadership capability, confidence, and accountability.
  • Collaborating with People & Culture colleagues across the wider group to share best practice and drive alignment.
  • Supporting organisational change activity, including restructures, consultations, and TUPE processes where required as the UK business.

What will I need to succeed

  • Proven experience as a People & Culture Business Partner, HR Business Partner, or in a senior people role within a commercial, operational, or sales-led environment (automotive experience is desirable).
  • Strong experience building or modernising People & Culture processes and policies, particularly in growing or changing organisations.
  • Solid, up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and confidence managing complex employee relations cases.
  • Experience supporting standardisation, harmonisation, or group-wide people initiatives across multiple sites or entities.
  • Experience delivering or supporting wellbeing, EDI, and people development initiatives within a commercial setting.
  • Experience supporting or leading People & Culture system (HRIS) implementation or optimisation is highly beneficial.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to balance people priorities with sales performance and operational demands.
  • Confident, credible communicator able to influence and challenge leaders at all levels.
  • Pragmatic, hands-on approach with the ability to move easily between strategy and delivery.
  • CIPD Level 5 or 7 (or equivalent experience) preferred
