We are looking for an experienced People and Culture Consultant to join our extraordinary and close-knit team.
Who we are
The Energy and Water Ombudsman (Victoria) (EWOV) is a not-for-profit, independent and impartial dispute resolution service. We proudly provide Victorian energy and water consumers with free, accessible, and informal dispute resolution.
Your new role and team
The People and Culture (Recruitment) Consultant is part of the People and Culture team, who are responsible for creating an exceptional employee experience through robust people processes and policies across our entire employee lifecycle. We are focused on creating a unique culture that supports the wellbeing and development of all our people, that enables them to deliver for our members and consumers.
As EWOV’s People and Culture (Recruitment) Consultant, you will support leaders and employees by delivering practical, timely and values‑aligned P&C advice in line with EWOV’s People and Culture Functional Competencies and Career Framework. In recruitment, you will partner closely with hiring managers to deliver inclusive, fair and effective recruitment outcomes.

What you'll do
- Provide day‑to‑day People and Culture advice and support to leaders and employees across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance, development, employee relations and policy interpretation.
- Apply EWOV policies, procedures and the People and Culture functional career framework to ensure advice is fair, consistent and aligned with organisational values.
- Support the P&C Manager in managing people matters, escalating complex or sensitive issues appropriately.
- Contribute to P&C initiatives and projects that support organisational culture, capability and engagement.
- Deliver end‑to‑end recruitment for assigned roles in line with EWOV’s Recruitment Policy and established processes – including approvals, advertising, shortlisting, interviews, offers and onboarding.
- Partner with hiring managers to clarify role requirements, prepare or update position descriptions and agree on inclusive and effective recruitment approaches.
- Provide guidance to hiring managers on recruitment best practice, candidate experience, and fair selection processes, escalating more complex matters to the P&C Manager or GM P&C as required.
What you'll bring
To help you succeed in this role, you’ll need to bring:
- Experience in a generalist HR or People and Culture role with hands‑on recruitment delivery.
- Sound working knowledge of recruitment and selection best practice, employment legislation and HR policies.
- Demonstrated ability to provide clear, practical and timely people advice.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple recruitment processes concurrently.
- Well‑developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience supporting People and Culture initiatives beyond recruitment (e.g. onboarding, performance, engagement).
- Exposure to HR information systems and recruitment platforms.
