The Business

An award-winning Property Developer known for design excellence, with an active pipeline of projects across Melbourne’s most sought-after suburbs. Following recent team expansion and an ambitious growth trajectory, the business is now seeking a hands-on Head of People & Culture to lead the function, supported by a team of two, while partnering closely with executive leadership.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Founder & Managing Director, this manager-level position has full ownership of People & Culture across the business. You will work closely with leadership to guide managers who may have limited HR experience and ensure best-practice people frameworks are embedded across the organisation.

This is not purely a strategic or advisory role. The business requires a technical, operational HR leader who can implement structure, manage complex employee matters, introduce systems and drive performance outcomes.

Why Join?

  • Melbourne CBD-fringe location in beautiful offices
  • Opportunity to build and shape the function, making a genuine impact
  • Collaborative, in-office culture with ad-hoc flexibility
  • Founder-led business with strong values
  • People-focused culture with regular team events
  • Opportunity to leverage employee NPS feedback to drive meaningful improvement
  • Up to $180K – $200K + Super + Bonus

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Founder & Managing Director and Executive Leadership Team to align people strategy with business objectives
  • Provide confident, commercially minded guidance to senior leaders across performance management, employee relations, compliance and workforce planning
  • Take full ownership of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, terminations and redundancies
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation while developing and maintaining robust HR policies and governance frameworks
  • Implement and optimise HR systems, including a HRIS, to drive operational efficiency
  • Lead performance processes, drive accountability and KPIs, and oversee training and development initiatives
  • Foster a high-performance culture through engagement initiatives, quarterly surveys and wellbeing programs
  • Lead and mentor a small HR team, ensuring strong execution, accurate record management and seamless people operations across the business

About You

  • 10+ years’ end-to-end HR / People & Culture experience
  • Experience in property development, construction or similar industries preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge of employment law and compliance
  • Comfortable working in an agile, privately owned business in a growth phase
  • Confident handling sensitive employee matters, including performance management and workforce changes
  • Able to build credibility quickly and influence at all levels of the business
  • Hands-on and systems-oriented, with HRIS implementation experience
  • Structured, commercially minded and proactive
