What’s the role?
In this role you’ll be pivotal in shaping how Westpac brings its People Strategy to life - end to end, at enterprise scale. From the moment strategy is set, you’ll ensure it’s governed, prioritised and delivered through a sharp, outcome‑led portfolio that genuinely shifts how the bank performs and how our people experience works.
Working on the People Strategy in partnership with the Chief People Officer (CPO) and People Leadership Team (PLT), you’ll be responsible for ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives. You’ll also act as the “front door” for the People function, providing a clear intake process for initiatives and ensuring effective prioritisation and mobilise teams to deliver, as well as monitor progress and benefits realisation. Own the engagement and communications plan that brings the People Strategy to life, clearly articulating a compelling story of impact, outcomes and business value.
You’ll own the People Strategy roadmap as well as the front door and single view of change for the People team creating the conditions for People leadership team to make confident, well‑sequenced investment decisions. You’ll bring clarity where there’s complexity, pace where there’s bottlenecks, and discipline without slowing momentum.
In short, you’ll help the People Team evolve thoughtfully, responsibly and at scale by making sure our People Strategy lands where it matters most.
What do I need?
- Proven experience in People Strategy (HR Strategy) design and monitoring. Setting and driving disciplined execution across multiple, interdependent initiatives whilst continuously linking back to a Group Strategy.
- Enterprise-level experience leading people, workforce or transformation portfolios in complex organisations
- Deep commercial capability in portfolio governance, investment prioritisation and benefits realisation
- Presence to influence at Group Executive and GM level. Strong stakeholder engagement ability with experience as a trusted, credible and confident advisor allowing you to challenge when required
