Role Summary

Benefits & HRIS Operations Specialist

The Benefits and HRIS Operations Specialist owns the day to day execution of employee facing Benefits administration, HRIS transactions, and People Team operational support for a high volume, hourly workforce across corporately owned locations. This role serves as the operational backbone of the People function, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely resolution of employee inquiries while operating within defined policies and escalation pathways.

This position is designed to centralize repeatable operational work so People leadership can focus on strategy, systems optimization, and workforce analytics. The role requires strong attention to detail, comfort in a fast paced environment, and the ability to own processes end to end within established guardrails.

Key Responsibilities

Benefits Administration and Employee Education:

  • Own employee facing Benefits administration, including eligibility, enrollment, qualifying life events, and issue resolution
  • Execute Benefits education and communication in partnership with Internal Communications and Benefits leadership
  • Serve as the primary operational contact with Benefits vendors for day to day administration and employee support
  • Support annual Benefits cycles, including open enrollment execution and employee communication

HRIS Transactions And Data Integrity

  • Own employee lifecycle transactions including hires, terminations, job changes, transfers, and status updates
  • Conduct routine audits to ensure HRIS data accuracy and reporting integrity
  • Partner with HRIS leadership on system testing, enhancements, and data validation
  • Maintain clear documentation of operational processes and system procedures

Employee Support and Operational Intake

  • Own intake and resolution of People Team inquiries through the ticketing system, meeting defined response expectations
  • Provide guidance on established policies and procedures while escalating matters requiring interpretation or decision making
  • Identify recurring operational issues and partner on improvements to processes and documentation

Workers Compensation And Leave Support

  • Support Workers Compensation administration, including claims intake, documentation coordination, and return to work tracking
  • Partner with People leadership and vendors to ensure consistent process execution
  • Develop knowledge of Workers Compensation requirements and administration over time, with increasing responsibility based on demonstrated capability

Program Ownership and Continuous Improvement

  • Own defined People Team operational programs and ongoing maintenance
  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve employee experience, and reduce avoidable inbound volume
  • Provide operational insights and feedback to People leadership to support continuous improvement

Required Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in HR operations, Benefits administration, or People shared services
  • Experience supporting a frontline, hourly, or multi location workforce
  • Strong working knowledge of Benefits administration and HRIS operations
  • Mid to advanced experience with HRIS platforms such as Paycor, Optim8, or similar systems
  • Foundational knowledge of employment laws impacting hourly environments, with willingness to deepen knowledge in Workers Compensation and leave administration
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain information clearly to traditionally non-corporate audiences
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and comfortable managing high volume operational work
