Our client, a well-established, $200M+ specialty contractor in the Midwest, is seeking a Vice President of Human Resources to join its executive leadership team. The VPHR will build and lead a modern HR function aligned with the company’s operational goals and long-term growth strategy. This executive will serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and senior leadership team, driving workforce planning, succession, leadership development, and performance systems while strengthening culture, accountability, and organizational depth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead succession planning for key roles and strengthen management capabilities
  • Establish workforce planning processes aligned with growth and project pipeline
  • Implement and optimize a modern HRIS platform
  • Build structured systems across recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and career development
  • Introduce meaningful HR metrics, dashboards, and reporting
  • Ensure compliance within a union-influenced, multi-site environment

Candidate Profile

  • 15+ years of progressive HR leadership experience
  • 5+ years HR leadership experience in construction, skilled trades, or engineering businesses (or other project-driven labor services)
  • Experience modernizing HR infrastructure in growing organizations
  • Strong executive presence with ability to partner across field and office environments
  • Union experience and HRIS implementation experience preferred
