This is a career‑defining executive role for a visionary people leader. As Chief People Officer (CPO), you will shape and deliver contemporary people strategies and organisational change that enable the strategic direction of DTMI. You’ll steward culture and capability across complex, high‑impact environments, transforming agencies and offices into modern, productive and inclusive workplaces that power the State’s transport and major infrastructure future.
Leading the People and Culture Division, you’ll be supported by approximately 91 dedicated HR professionals, a high-performing team committed to driving DTMI’s strategic priority of
Empowering Our People.
This is a Senior Executive Service (SES) contract for five (5) years with opportunity of extension(s). Suitable applicants through this process may receive further offers of employment in this or similar roles for a period of 12 months.
What you’ll lead
- Provide strategic leadership for People and Culture, delivering integrated workforce strategies that enable DTMI’s, Transport’s, and Offices’ business plans.
- Act as a cultural steward, shaping organisational capability and fostering an inclusive, values-driven workplace.
- Partner with senior leaders to influence decisions and deliver organisational reform, cultural change, and future-focused workforce solutions.
- Lead talent and capability strategies, workforce planning, and people experience initiatives to position the Department for long-term success.
- Represent DTMI on strategic forums, ensuring the Department actively contributes to and implements public sector and sector‑wide people and workforce strategies.
