Lastwall is seeking a People Operations Manager to own and operate the People function across our growing U.S. and Canadian team.
This is a standalone, high-ownership role based in Fredericton, New Brunswick, serving as the primary People Operations presence for the company. The role requires both strategic leadership and hands-on execution across People Operations, HR systems, hiring, employee lifecycle management, compliance, and organizational support.
The People Operations Manager will work closely with leadership and managers across the organization to help build scalable, consistent, and compliant People processes as Lastwall continues to grow.
What You’ll Own
- People Strategy & Organizational Support
You will partner with leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, team structure, performance management, employee relations, and team effectiveness. You will help identify organizational gaps and take ownership of implementing solutions that improve structure and alignment.
- Hiring & Talent Support
You will support hiring managers in defining roles, scoping responsibilities, developing job descriptions, improving interview structure, and strengthening candidate experience. You will also manage offers and help ensure a smooth onboarding process.
- Culture & Employee Experience
You will help ensure consistency between our stated expectations and how teams are managed, evaluated, and developed. You will establish clear feedback loops to understand how teams are operating and where improvements are needed.
- Compensation & Leveling
You will maintain and evolve salary bands and leveling frameworks, support compensation reviews and benchmarking, and help ensure consistency across Canadian and U.S. employees.
- Employee Lifecycle Management
You will own onboarding, performance management, offboarding, employee documentation, and core People processes. You will serve as a primary point of contact for employee and manager-related matters.
- HR Operations & Compliance
You will help ensure compliance with Canadian employment law and applicable U.S. federal and state requirements. You will own HR policies, documentation, audit readiness, and support payroll-related employee data accuracy in partnership with accounting.
- Systems & Infrastructure
You will own and manage Rippling, including employee data, workflows, reporting, and system accuracy. You will help build reliable, scalable People Operations infrastructure for the company.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- 5–8+ years of experience in People Operations, HRBP, or a similar role, preferably in a startup or high-growth environment.
- Experience supporting recruiting and hiring processes across technical and non-technical roles.
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian employment law and familiarity with U.S. requirements.
