Summary

The Workforce Innovation Instructor-Trainer provides expert-level teaching and training services for customized, short-term, and industry-driven learning experiences. This position supports Kansas City Kansas Community College’s Workforce Innovation Division, which bridges education and employment by delivering responsive programs that meet the evolving needs of regional employers, communities, and learners.

The Instructor-Trainer contributes to KCKCC’s mission of advancing economic mobility by providing high-quality, applied instruction across a range of workforce topics—from soft skills and leadership to advanced technical certifications and industry-specific training related advance manufacturing, business, healthcare, HVAC, welding and a host of other topics.

This is a POOL position. Application materials for this instructor-trainer position are accepted on an ongoing basis due to the increasing demand for industry training courses spanning across multiple subject areas.

Position Description

  • Deliver engaging, competency-based instruction for workforce, corporate, or community-based training sessions (in-person, hybrid, or online).
  • Facilitate short-term credential, bootcamp, and customized training programs aligned with employer or industry needs.
  • Collaborate with KCKCC Workforce Innovation staff to design or adapt curriculum, assessments, and learning materials for assigned trainings.
  • Integrate real-world applications, case studies, and hands-on learning aligned with adult education and industry best practices.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and evaluation records per college and grant requirements.
  • Ensure safety, inclusivity, and professionalism in all instructional settings (labs, classrooms, or off-site locations).
  • Represent KCKCC to community and industry partners with professionalism, reliability, and a solutions-oriented approach.

  • Ability to represent the College effectively with corporate partners.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and workforce training practices.
  • Ability to facilitate hands-on, competency-based learning experiences.
  • Ability to maintain accurate instructional records and documentation.
  • Effective communication and professionalism in instructional settings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of recent, directly related industry or workforce experience in the subject area being taught (e.g., advanced manufacturing, business, healthcare, HVAC, welding, or similar)
  • One (1) year of experience delivering instruction or training to adult learners (e.g., corporate training, workforce programs, community education, or postsecondary instruction)
  • Experience delivering training in in-person, virtual, or hybrid formats
  • Experience using basic instructional or workplace technology (e.g., Microsoft Office or a learning management system)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree in a related field (e.g., workforce development, business, healthcare, skilled trades, or instructional area), or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
  • Experience with short-term credentials, bootcamps, or customized employer training.
  • Experience collaborating with workforce, corporate, or community partners.
  • Familiarity with industry credentials and employer-defined competencies.
  • Experience teaching in hybrid or online learning environments.
  • Knowledge of grant-funded program requirements (Perkins, WIOA, etc.).

WORK SCHEDULE

Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours. Your appointment is contingent on sufficient enrollment or on program and scheduling changes.
