Head of Human Resources
One Model
People & HR
Queensland, Australia
Shape workforce strategy for a community-centred organisation making a real difference across Brisbane.
Communify is looking for an experienced Head of Human Resources (HR) to join our Executive Team and take ownership of our People, Culture and Safety function. If you're energised by purpose-driven work and ready to build something meaningful, this role is for you.
About Communify
We support people across all life stages to live active, healthy and connected lives — delivering aged care, mental health, disability support, housing and community development programs across Brisbane. With approximately 280 staff and 300 volunteers across 15 locations, our people are central to everything we do.
About the role
Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll lead HR, People & Culture, and Workplace Health & Safety across the organisation. This is a hands-on executive role with genuine scope to shape culture, drive strategy, and influence at the highest level. The role plays a critical part in enabling a geographically dispersed workforce and supporting service delivery across diverse programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own and drive Communify's People & Culture strategy
- Provide executive oversight and strategic leadership of workforce planning, organisational development, IR, and WHS
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Executive Team on culture, risk and compliance
- Lead a proactive, values-led approach to physical and psychological safety
- Build leadership capability and embed diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives across the organisation
- Enhancing workforce data, systems, and reporting to inform decision-making
About You
You're a collaborative, emotionally intelligent leader with a genuine commitment to social justice and community impact. You know how to influence at the executive level without losing sight of the people doing the work on the ground.
You will bring:
- Significant senior HR leadership experience, ideally in community, health or NFP
- Demonstrated expertise in WHS strategy and governance
- Strong knowledge of employment law and regulatory compliance
- Proven ability to influence boards and executive teams
- Strategic thinker with a people-first approach
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in HR, Business, Psychology, or related discipline
- Postgraduate qualifications (desirable)
- WHS qualifications (highly desirable)
- AHRI membership (desirable)
Why join Communify?
- Real executive influence — a seat at the table, not a support function
- Work that matters, in an organisation that genuinely lives its values
- A passionate, collaborative senior leadership team
- Diverse, dispersed workforce across meaningful community programs
Communify strongly encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, LGBTIQ+ communities, people with disability, and people with lived experience.
