Description

OpenLoop is looking for a Controller to join our team remotely or at our HQ in Des Moines, IA. This role reports to OpenLoop's CFO.

Job Summary

The Controller is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations of the company. This position will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining robust internal controls, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company's growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Compliance

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant regulatory requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations. Manage the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit
  • Develop and implement robust internal controls and procedures to safeguard the company's assets and ensure the integrity of financial data

Accounting Operations

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely reconciliations and reporting
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, internal controls
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and scalability
  • Oversee treasury operations, including cash management, liquidity forecasting, investment and debt management, banking relationships, and risk mitigation strategies to ensure optimal utilization of company funds and financial resources
  • Manage the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to ensure high-quality work and professional development
  • Serve as primary point of contact for external auditors and tax authorities

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial operations, with at least 4 years in a leadership role
  • Experience within a high-growth environment
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax laws, and relevant financial regulations
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop staff
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt to changing business needs
Salary Description
$150K- $180K + bonus and equity
