About the Team
The Dev Tooling team is an internal-facing platform team dedicated to enabling the entire engineering organization to do better, faster, and safer software engineering, through the development of tooling, services, processes, documentation, or whatever else is helpful. This wide and intentionally-vague charter encompasses a slew of evolving topics. We try to proactively get out ahead and build the tooling, systems and training needed for all our engineering teams to be successful.
Primary areas of coverage:
Development environment tooling
Service development framework and librariesCI/CD (continuous integration/continuous deployment)
Dev machine setup/configuration/automation
Defining and tracking operational excellence standards
GraphQL and Federated architecture knowledge is beneficial

The Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer contribute as part of this backend team, help offer a great service and experience to their fellow colleagues in the other feature engineering teams. Here you are expected to have a real impact on the engineering platform, helping evolve our technology stack and build reusable components that help the other backend teams. You will have the opportunity to help build Outreach Prague and contribute to the Outreach brand success.
With the wide charter, you may find yourself spending a morning building a logging library, and the afternoon helping a team design an efficient way to run integration tests in a production-like environment. We spend our time alternating between helping our engineering customers with immediate issues and developing features with long-term impact - a great environment if you like quick wins mixed in with larger investments. The wide charter also means there are myriad opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills, both on the technical front and in product design.

Location:
While we are remote-friendly, we remain an "office-centric" company. The workplace is based in Prague, Czechia.
Your Daily Adventures Will Include
- Directly contributing to the vision, strategy and roadmap for the DevTooling
- Being part of a team where the culture of customer obsession, growth, trust and got-your-back spirit are key. Use best quality practices while building amazing experiences, using your natural instinct to put the customer first
- Driving excellence by providing quality code, performance, maintainability
- Identifying common themes in upcoming projects and building common frameworks to help teams build them faster
- Working with engineering teams to find out where we need to invest in more tooling
- Triaging feedback and bugs from users
- Engaging with the open source community
- Building reliable core service libraries so feature teams can focus on business logic
Our Vision of You
- Experience working on build systems, especially running in CI/CD
- Experience maintaining shared libraries, especially open-source libraries
- Experience with container-based workflows and services, especially Kubernetes
- Experience building production monitoring to track service and website health
- Expert in Golang ideally or interest in ramping up quickly (used extensively by the DevTooling team)
- Familiarity with Typescript, Python, and Ruby (used elsewhere in the company)
- Great communications skills
