STEAM Teacher: Creative AI Literacy, Northbrook IL & surrounding areas, Part-time

Pay: $70 per hour

Qualifications

  • Must pass standard background checks for working with children
  • Must have a car (or reliable transportation to get to schools/community centers)
  • Must be available at least 3 days/week between 2pm-6pm
  • Experience working with children in a group/classroom/camp environment
  • Can travel to schools and community centers in Northbrook IL and surrounding areas (Glenview, Deerfield, Northfield, Highland Park)
  • Comfortable using technology in the classroom (laptop, projector, basic web tools)

Responsibilities

  1. Teach "Create New Worlds" classes for children - Deliver engaging lessons to 5-12 students (roughly ages 8-14), centered on storytelling + world-building, game design thinking, and age-appropriate AI literacy + AI safety.
  2. Facilitate, adapt, and give feedback - Keep students engaged and collaborating; problem-solve in the classroom and provide fast feedback to improve the program.
  3. Come prepared - Review our lesson plans and tools (provided) and use our classroom tech stack to run smooth sessions.
  4. Participate in training - Complete onboarding + training before leading classes and join periodic coaching/check-ins as we scale.

Extra Credit

  • Classroom management experience
  • Background in group teaching, camp counseling, or youth mentorship
  • Interest in writing, art, game design, robotics, STEM/STEAM
  • Experience working at schools, after-school programs, or community centers
