The Data Operations and Standards Lead is responsible for developing and promoting the strategy, processes, and organizational structures needed for the creation, maintenance, and implementation of data standards across all relevant Packworks systems and projects. The role is also accountable for ensuring that all data in scope of the company's various data requirements are collected, managed, stored, controlled, and distributed according appropriate needs of the Data Office’s internal and external clients. The Data Operations and Standards Lead will also drive the successful delivery of data-related projects and ensure customer satisfaction. He / She must adhere to the Data Office mandate which is to create business value – both for internal and external clients – from data generated by the company and through integration with external data.

Objectives of this Role

  • He / She creates and implements a cross-functional standards governance framework to extend data standards expertise and drive adherence across the organization.
  • Ensures proper and timely delivery of Data Office projects and products.
  • Works with data engineering for proper automation of requisite data processes.

Responsibilities

Data Standards

  • Strategy: Develops Data Standards strategy for Packworks in collaboration with key stakeholders. Leads implementation of data standards practices within vendor relationships and in the entire organization.
  • Execution: Leads development of a robust and scalable cross-functional data standards governance framework and responsible for promotion of data standards value throughout the organization. Ensures consistent approach to implementation and governance of data standards. Accountable for overall adherence to data standards while maintaining emphasis on exceptional data quality. Overseas development and implementation of data standards and governance processes for Packworks. Act as expert consultant for escalated issues for data standards.
  • Process Improvement and Innovation: Identifies and drives data standards related initiatives to enhance efficiencies within the data flow. Collaborates to identify innovative technical advances, elevating the value of data standards. Evaluates data standards and governance processes and metrics for continuous improvement opportunities.

Data Operations

  • Lead our data operations with a thorough knowledge and understanding of relational databases, data structures, and the ability to cleanse, analyze, and connect data from multiple sources.
  • Manage and optimize processes for data intake, validation, and engineering as well as modeling, visualization, and communication.
  • Lead and advise direct reports on appropriate and advanced methods related to scalable data management processes.
  • Ensure data requests are formally captured via standard data for ongoing data operations and maintenance.
  • Work with various Packworks teams to support client data sources with a focus on reliability, resiliency, and quality.
  • Be the hands-on subject matter expert on data operations and data engineering within Packworks
  • Evaluate existing and emerging technologies; select and implement the necessary data.
  • Frequently review, (re)design and improve existing processes, quality controls and manual workarounds especially those which pose a high error risk to the service delivery
  • Oversee and improve the effectiveness of defined data quality and governance frameworks to sustain data quality and reliability of the service delivery
  • Maintain all operational documentation relevant in the context of daily service deliveries
  • Ensure that all data requests are delivered within SLA

Skills and Qualifications

  • Understands the end-to-end data development lifecycle (acquisition, cleaning, analysis, operationalization)
  • Strong management skills, and ability to effectively lead and collaborate with various business functions
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities
  • Demonstrates leadership, problem solving, conflict resolution, and team building skills
  • Direct leadership of cross-functional initiatives/effective change management of process or technical Improvements that improve the Data Office standards or practices
  • Demonstrated ability establish effective business relationships with external stakeholders, including implementing process change at a vendor
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong experience in a dynamic product management role
  • People management experience, 3-4 years
  • Managing service delivery team(s) and client relations, 3–4 years
  • Applying operational data management and data governance, 2-3 years
  • Experience with service request systems or any other similar ticketing tool
