Who we are looking for:
We are looking for a Sr. Scientist to play a crucial role in the research and development of the extraction of critical minerals from tailings. Focusing on both the recyclability of chemicals as well as the harvesting of critical resources, this person will be a key scientific leader of the extraction team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the design of sustainable and novel chemistries for to extraction of critical metals sustainability from tailings and other waste materials
  • Conduct rigorous proof of concept studies for novel extraction approaches, serving as the principal investigator.
  • Lead the develop of new products from traditional waste streams
  • Investigate the landscape of metallurgical methods, identifying areas for improvement and proposing innovative research avenues.
  • Lead the development and optimization of hydrometallurgical or solvometalurgical processes for efficient metal extraction, focusing on sustainability and environmental impact reduction.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to drive the successful deployment of cutting-edge technologies into operational processes.
  • Conduct laboratory-scale experiments to evaluate the feasibility and efficiency of proposed methods, ensuring safety and adherence to protocols.
  • Analyze process data meticulously, ensuring safety protocols and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Mining and Mineral Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or a related field.
  • 7+ years of hands on experience in extractive metallurgy, mineral processing, hydrometallurgical process development with rare earth, copper, cobalt, nickel or actinides
  • Strong knowledge of sustainable chemistry design and proficiency in laboratory work.
  • Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance in metallurgical operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions to challenging open-ended technical problems and drive a project to completion
  • Ability to analyze data, run statistical analysis, and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Enthusiasm to take ownership of some projects and be a team player on others
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, flexible start-up environment
