Who we are looking for:
Phoenix Tailings is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead and oversee engineering efforts related to major projects, particularly in collaboration with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) firms. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in managing large-scale engineering projects, providing technical leadership, and ensuring successful project delivery from concept to execution.
As the Director of Engineering, you will play a key role in guiding the buildout of Phoenix Tailings’ critical metals production facilities. You will work closely with EPC partners to ensure project alignment with our sustainability goals and technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee engineering strategy: Provide strategic leadership for the engineering team, ensuring alignment with Phoenix Tailings’ operational goals and sustainability objectives.
  • Collaborate with EPC firms: Lead and coordinate efforts with EPC firms to guide the planning, design, procurement, and construction of Phoenix Tailings’ large-scale production facilities.
  • Project management and execution: Ensure successful execution of engineering projects, from initial design to commissioning, while meeting key performance, cost, and timeline goals.
  • Technical oversight:Provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and sustainability goals.
  • Vendor and contractor management: Work closely with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of all project components.
  • Cross-functional collaboration:Collaborate with internal teams, including operations, finance, and R&D, to ensure engineering designs align with overall business goals and operational capabilities.
  • Risk management and problem-solving:Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Team leadership and development: Lead and mentor the engineering team, ensuring the development of key talent and fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Extensive experience in managing large-scale engineering projects, preferably in collaboration with EPC firms.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial-scale design and construction processes.
  • Proven track record of successfully guiding projects from concept through to execution.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders while ensuring high-quality delivery.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability practices in engineering and construction.
  • Experience in metals production, mining, or a related industry is a plus.
