Who We Are Looking For
Phoenix Tailings is seeking a driven, innovative Engineer for the 2nd cohort of our Leadership Development Program (LDP). This intensive program is designed for individuals ready to immerse themselves in complex mechanical systems, push their personal limits, and build the foundation for future leadership within the company. Success in this program will require dedication, a willingness to work long days and adapt to any shift the company needs, and the flexibility to step outside of traditional job descriptions to support critical projects. This program is not for everyone, but for those who want to challenge themselves, lead the future of clean metals production, and leave their mark on the world, Phoenix Tailings offers an unparalleled opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and optimize critical production equipment, including furnace systems, materials handling, and rare earth refining units
  • Support process scale-up through rigorous testing, data analysis, and on-floor problem solving
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and lead hands-on implementation of solutions to drive yield, throughput, and safety
  • Monitor and control production parameters to ensure quality and consistency of critical metals output
  • Collaborate with metallurgists, engineers, and technicians to translate R&D breakthroughs into repeatable production
  • Develop and implement standardized operating procedures and quality protocols for plant operations
  • Assist with root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects across shifts and product lines
  • Provide detailed production data reporting and help develop dashboards to track KPIs in real-time
  • Participate in and eventually lead operational readiness efforts for new production lines and facility expansions

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or related) or Applied Sciences
  • Strong interest in operations, manufacturing systems, or industrial process optimization
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in a plant, pilot, or production environment (internships or co-ops welcome)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment with shifting priorities
  • Excellent data analysis skills and ability to interpret production metrics to inform decision-making
  • Passion for sustainable technology, industrial innovation, and driving measurable results
  • Willingness to work in a physical production setting with occasional off-hours or shift support
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and operational teams
