PierSight Space is a young startup building world’s largest constellation of Synthetic Aperture Radar and AIS satellites for most extensive surveillance of oceans. The startup is backed by Institutional investors like Alphawave Global (Investor in SpaceX), Elevation Capital, All in Capital and Techstars (In collaboration with NASA and US Space Force). Join our SAR Systems Team and contribute to cutting-edge technology in the field of remote sensing. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, gain hands-on experience with SAR systems, hardware and software alongside contributing to the development of innovative solutions.


Job description

Collaborate with engineers to develop and implement numerical models for SAR system components.
Utilize MATLAB and Python to perform simulations, analyze data, and validate numerical models.
Assist in the optimization of algorithms for SAR image formation, calibration, and data processing.
Contribute to the development of mathematical models to simulate SAR system performance under varying conditions.
Participate in the documentation of numerical analysis methodologies, model assumptions, and validation procedures.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate numerical models into SAR system simulations.
Collaborate with engineers to identify areas for improvement and optimization in numerical simulations.​

Requirements

1-2 years of Project / Industry Experience, Pursuing Engineering degree in a relevant field
Strong understanding of numerical analysis, mathematical modeling, and simulation techniques.
Proficiency in MATLAB and Python for numerical computations and data analysis.
Familiarity with SAR concepts and image processing techniques is a plus.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
