Skillbridge Overview

This job posting is specific to the DoD’s Skillbridge program and is only open to personnel eligible to apply for a DoD Skillbridge program. Any rank, enlisted or officer, may apply for SkillBridge. SkillBridge permits you to use up to the last 180 days of service to train and learn with an industry partner. During SkillBridge participation, you continue to receive military compensation and you are covered by your military benefits. Release for SkillBridge is always mission-dependent, however, and your unit commander must authorize participation prior to entering into any agreement with interested industry employment partners. Pitch Aeronautics (www.pitchaero.com) is a rapidly growing startup creating game-changing solutions for the utility industry. Pitch has developed a drone to install our line sensor, bird diverters, and other equipment on power lines. Our drone-deployable line sensors wirelessly transmit environmental and line characteristics to an online secure API to help utilities push more power through existing lines, prevent wildfires, and improve grid reliability. We're looking for a software developer who can develop and maintain our software platform, providing utility customers a tool to visualize relevant operational, reliability, risk, and environmental data .

Role Description

This is a full-time, remote role for a Software Developer. As a Software Developer at Pitch Aeronautics, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing features that empower utility operators to efficiently manage and monitor their electrical grids. Your responsibilities will include developing robust data integration solutions, designing intuitive user interfaces, and ensuring the platform's scalability and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Data Integration Expertise: Utilize your skills in data integration to design and implement seamless connections between various data sources, including IoT devices, and external databases.
  • User Interface Design: Collaborate with UX/UI designers to create visually appealing and intuitive interfaces that provide utility operators with actionable insights. Focus on delivering a user-friendly experience for monitoring and controlling electrical grids.
  • Scalability and Reliability: Architect and develop the platform with a focus on scalability and reliability. Ensure that the software can handle large volumes of real-time data and maintain high performance under demanding operational conditions.
  • API Development: Create and maintain APIs that enable seamless communication between the platform and external applications, allowing for easy integration with third-party tools and services.
  • Security Measures: Implement robust security measures to safeguard sensitive utility data, adhering to industry best practices and compliance standards.
  • Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, quality assurance engineers, and other developers, to ensure a cohesive and well-rounded software solution.
  • Create algorithms for various power line or drone tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in software development, with a focus on data integration and/or user interface design.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
  • Familiarity with web development frameworks and technologies (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue.js).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficiency with containerization technologies (e.g. docker)
  • Proficiency with commercial cloud environments including AWS, Azure, GPC.
  • CISSP or Security + certified (or other DoD 8570 certification)
  • Familiarization with NIST 800-171 and other cybersecurity controls and frameworks
