Role: Customer Engineer - Analytics
Employment Type: Full Time
Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geospatial Science, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

Work Experience: 3–6 years of experience in geospatial analytics, applied remote sensing, or technical delivery roles.

Role Description:
We are seeking a Customer Engineer to join Pixxel’s Analytics organization. This role sits at the intersection of advanced geospatial analytics, hyperspectral science, and customer-facing delivery. The Customer Engineer will work closely with the Analytics, Product, Platform, and Commercial teams to translate Pixxel’s technical capabilities into clear, credible, and repeatable solutions for customers and government stakeholders.

Unlike commercial Solutions Engineers, this role is deeply technical and embedded within the Analytics function. The Customer Engineer focuses on feasibility studies, pilot design, technical demonstrations, and analytics delivery, ensuring that customer engagements are scientifically sound, scalable, and aligned with Pixxel’s long-term product roadmap.

As a key contributor to Pixxel’s analytics execution, you will:

  • Bridge advanced hyperspectral analytics and real-world customer use cases.

  • Support high-impact pilots, proofs-of-concept, and government programs.

  • Enable faster, more consistent client-facing delivery without disrupting core R&D

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Customer-Facing Technical Delivery:

Lead technical execution of customer pilots, feasibility studies, and proof-of-concept

engagements across agriculture, water, minerals, and environmental monitoring domains.

  • Analytics Translation & Demonstration:

Translate complex analytical outputs (e.g., hyperspectral models, spatial products,

uncertainty metrics) into clear, defensible narratives for customers, government agencies,

and internal stakeholders.

  • Pre-Sales & Proposal Support:

Support proposal development, technical write-ups, exhibits, and presentations for

commercial and government opportunities, ensuring technical accuracy and feasibility.

  • Data & Workflow Execution:

Run analytics workflows using Pixxel data and internal tools, including data preparation,

model execution, visualization, and QA of outputs prior to client delivery.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with Analytics R&D, Product, Platform, and Image Processing teams to

communicate customer requirements, data limitations, and deployment considerations.

  • Standardization & Reuse:

Contribute to building reusable analytics templates, demo assets, and documentation to

reduce ad-hoc work and improve consistency across engagements.

  • Field & Program Support (as needed):

Support field campaigns, validation efforts, or on-site engagements with partners and

government agencies when required.

Desirable Skills & Certifications:

Technical & Domain Expertise

  • Strong background in geospatial analytics, remote sensing, or Earth observation data

processing.

  • Experience working with satellite imagery (optical, hyperspectral, SAR, or

multispectral).

  • Familiarity with Python-based geospatial and data science tools (e.g., NumPy, Pandas,

Rasterio, GDAL, Xarray).

  • Understanding of analytics workflows, model validation, and spatial data quality

considerations.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and analytical results to non-technical

audiences.

  • Comfort working directly with customers, government stakeholders, and internal

leadership.

  • Strong written communication skills for technical notes, proposals, and reports.

Execution Mindset

  • Highly organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple parallel engagements.

  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.

  • Strong ownership mindset with attention to detail and delivery quality.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience in customer-facing technical roles (e.g., analytics delivery, technical

  • consulting, applied research).

  • Exposure to agriculture, soil, water quality, minerals, or environmental monitoring

  • applications.

  • Familiarity with cloud-based data workflows or analytics platforms.

  • Experience supporting government or large enterprise engagements.

Candidate Acumen:

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • High level of attention to detail.

Benefits:
Health insurance coverage
Unlimited leaves & flexible working hours
Role-based remote work and work-from-home benefit
Relocation assistance
Professional Mental Wellness services
Creche facility for primary caregivers (limited to India)
Employee Stock Options for all hires

About Pixxel

Pixxel is a space data company and spacecraft manufacturer redefining Earth observation with hyperspectral imaging. The company’s first three commercial hyperspectral satellites—Fireflies—deliver imagery at 5-meter resolution and 135+ spectral bands, providing 50x richer detail than traditional Earth observation systems and unlocking insights across agriculture, climate, energy, environment, and more.

Once fully deployed, Pixxel’s constellation of 18-24 satellites will capture imagery across up to 250 bands in VNIR and SWIR ranges, with a 40 km swath and daily global revisit capability. Pixxel’s most unique strength is its full-stack approach, integrating every layer of the value chain from satellite hardware and manufacturing to AI-powered analytics.

Pixxel’s satellite constellation is complemented by Aurora, its in-house Earth Observation Studio that simplifies satellite imagery analysis and democratises remote sensing for all. Designed to make hyperspectral data more accessible, Aurora by Pixxel combines high-frequency imagery with AI-powered tools to generate actionable insights, even for users without technical backgrounds. The third pillar of Pixxel’s ecosystem is its in-house satellite manufacturing capability. Beyond building its own spacecraft, Pixxel also provides satellite systems and subsystems to other organisations. This dual capacity sets it apart in a sector where most companies focus on either payload design or data operations, but not both.

Pixxel’s team is young but deeply mission-aligned, with a culture rooted in curiosity, speed, and long-term thinking. As the company grows its constellation and expands Aurora, the focus remains on making space-based insights practical, scalable, and genuinely helpful so that the health of the planet becomes measurable and action becomes possible.

Pixxel was the only Indian startup selected for the Techstars Starburst Space Accelerator in Los Angeles and has been recognised in TIME’s Best Inventions of 2023, Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies, and Via Satellite’s Top Innovators list.
