Role: Component Engineer

Employment Type: Full Time

Work Experience: 3-6 years of experience

Role Description:
We are looking for an Electrical Component Engineer with 3-6 years of experience to own and manage component-related activities across engineering and supply chain workflows. This role will serve as the key interface between the EEE team and the SCM team for BOM creation, part tracking, lifecycle monitoring, sourcing coordination, and part database management.

The role requires hands-on experience with both electronic and RF components, and a strong understanding of how component choices impact engineering execution, procurement timelines, and product lifecycle risk. You should be comfortable working with tools such as SAP, ManEx/Manufacturo, and similar ERP/PLM/material management systems.

At Pixxel, BOM quality is not just an operations task — it is directly tied to build readiness, schedule confidence, and hardware reliability. In this role, you will help ensure that engineering intent translates into clean, manufacturable, and supply-chain-ready execution. Your work will directly impact how efficiently we design, procure, build, and scale flight hardware.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Own and maintain EEE BOMs across development, qualification, and production phases

  • Ensure BOM accuracy across part number, manufacturer, package, description, vendor, alternates, lifecycle status, MOQ, and lead time

  • Act as the primary interface between EEE and SCM for all component-related coordination

  • Support ordering, shortage resolution, alternates tracking, and procurement follow-up for critical line items

  • Manage component data for both electronic and RF parts, including passives, ICs, connectors, electromechanical parts, RF connectors, RF cables, filters, couplers, attenuators, amplifiers, oscillators, and similar RF hardware

  • Track component lifecycle status including active, NRND, obsolete, EOL, and last-time-buy

  • Identify and flag risks related to obsolescence, long lead times, single-source dependencies, and supply chain constraints

  • Work with design teams to support alternate selection and improve part readiness early in the design cycle

  • Maintain clean and traceable part master data across tools such as SAP, ManEx/Manufacturo, and related systems

  • Support approved manufacturer/vendor list creation and part standardization across programs

  • Participate in BOM and design reviews from a component readiness, sourcing, and lifecycle perspective

  • Generate clear tracking for shortages, order status, lifecycle exposure, and BOM health

Desirable Skills & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, ECE, EEE, or a related discipline 2–3 years of experience in component engineering, BOM management, electronics supply chain coordination, or material planning

  • Hands-on experience working with both electronic and RF components

  • Strong understanding of BOM structures, part master management, lifecycle tracking, and procurement coordination

  • Working knowledge of SAP, ManEx/Manufacturo, or similar ERP/PLM/material management tools

  • Good understanding of component sourcing realities such as lead times, MOQ, approved vendors, alternates, lifecycle risk, and availability constraints

  • Ability to work across engineering and supply chain teams with strong ownership and follow-through

  • High attention to detail and strong documentation discipline

Would be great if you have

  • Experience in space, aerospace, communication systems, RF hardware, or high-reliability electronics

  • Familiarity with AVL/AML management, change control, and part approval workflows

  • Exposure to obsolescence management, configuration control, and traceability requirements

  • Experience supporting hardware programs with fast iteration cycles and evolving BOMs

Candidate Acumen:
This is a high-ownership role for someone who is structured, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced hardware environment.

Benefits:
Health insurance coverage
Unlimited leaves & flexible working hours
Role-based remote work and work-from-home benefit
Relocation assistance
Professional Mental Wellness services
Creche facility for primary caregivers (limited to India)
Employee Stock Options for all hires

About Pixxel

Pixxel is a space data company and spacecraft manufacturer redefining Earth observation with hyperspectral imaging. The company’s first three commercial hyperspectral satellites—Fireflies—deliver imagery at 5-meter resolution and 135+ spectral bands, providing 50x richer detail than traditional Earth observation systems and unlocking insights across agriculture, climate, energy, environment, and more.

Once fully deployed, Pixxel’s constellation of 18-24 satellites will capture imagery across up to 250 bands in VNIR and SWIR ranges, with a 40 km swath and daily global revisit capability. Pixxel’s most unique strength is its full-stack approach, integrating every layer of the value chain from satellite hardware and manufacturing to AI-powered analytics.

Pixxel’s satellite constellation is complemented by Aurora, its in-house Earth Observation Studio that simplifies satellite imagery analysis and democratises remote sensing for all. Designed to make hyperspectral data more accessible, Aurora by Pixxel combines high-frequency imagery with AI-powered tools to generate actionable insights, even for users without technical backgrounds. The third pillar of Pixxel’s ecosystem is its in-house satellite manufacturing capability. Beyond building its own spacecraft, Pixxel also provides satellite systems and subsystems to other organisations. This dual capacity sets it apart in a sector where most companies focus on either payload design or data operations, but not both.

Pixxel’s team is young but deeply mission-aligned, with a culture rooted in curiosity, speed, and long-term thinking. As the company grows its constellation and expands Aurora, the focus remains on making space-based insights practical, scalable, and genuinely helpful so that the health of the planet becomes measurable and action becomes possible.

Pixxel was the only Indian startup selected for the Techstars Starburst Space Accelerator in Los Angeles and has been recognised in TIME’s Best Inventions of 2023, Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies, and Via Satellite’s Top Innovators list.
