Increasingly, audiences encounter shows through short-form video, social-first storytelling, creator collaborations, and platform-native content before they ever listen to a full episode.

Role Description

We're looking for a Director of Social Media to help lead that evolution.

This role will lead and shape Pod People's growing social media practice. This person will be responsible for developing tailored social strategies for clients, creating scalable social offerings, building operational systems, and helping clients think beyond traditional podcast marketing.

This role is equal parts strategist, creative director, operator, and client partner.

You'll sit under the Marketing department and work closely with our production, creative, and business development teams to define what best-in-class social media looks like for podcast and media brands in 2026 and beyond.

Responsibilities:

Lead Client Social Strategy

  • Lead, develop and iterate on social media strategies for clients across Instagram, Youtube, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, and emerging platforms
  • Present strategies and concepts to clients in pitch meetings, development workshops, and beyond
  • Translate client business objectives into audience growth, engagement, and content strategies across socials

Creative Development

  • Develop platform-native content concepts that extend beyond traditional podcast clips
  • Create repeatable content series and audience engagement formats
  • Guide creative direction for our clients' social campaigns and launches
  • Collaborate with producers, editors, marketers, and clients to identify compelling moments and stories
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends in social storytelling, creator media, and audience behavior

Build and Scale Social

  • Help define Pod People's social offerings
  • Help develop frameworks for scoping, pricing, and packaging social services
  • Create workflows and processes for scalable content production
  • Identify staffing needs and help shape future hiring plans in the department
  • Build systems that allow creative work to scale without sacrificing quality

Cross Functional Leadership Development

  • Partner with production and marketing teams to integrate social strategy into show development and production workflows
  • Collaborate with Business Development on proposals and client pitches
  • Support marketing initiatives and thought leadership efforts
  • Mentor team members and contribute to department growth

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in social media strategy, content strategy, digital media, creator marketing, or related fields
  • Experience leading social strategy for brands, media properties, and agencies
  • Experience presenting to clients and executive stakeholders
  • Experience developing content strategies across multiple social platforms
  • Strong understanding of social analytics, audience development, and content performance
  • Deep knowledge of all major social channels (YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, Threads, X)

Bonus Experience

  • Ability to video edit and knowledge of editing tools (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Experience working with business/tech and lifestyle/entertainment content
  • Experience building or leading a social media department or function
  • Agency experience

Compensation and Benefits

This is a remote, full-time role with a salary in the range of $85,000-$105,000 annually. Pod People covers 70% of premiums on healthcare, generous PTO, and a 3-day weekend each month. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive company culture with every addition we make to our team.
