Associate General Counsel
Project Canary
Project Canary is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and detail-oriented attorney to join our legal team. The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for the development, negotiation, and review of commercial contracts. As one of only two attorneys at Project Canary, the Associate General Counsel will also be involved in all aspects of our growing company’s business, including operations, finance, human resources, and intellectual property. This role requires a strong background in commercial law, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities
- Negotiate, draft, and review a wide variety of contracts, including but not limited to master service agreements, confidentiality agreements, and licensing agreements.
- Provide legal advice and support to the various departments within the company with a focus on contract and commercial-related matters.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate legal risks.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of contract management policies and procedures.
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel as required.
- Support the General Counsel and the members of the commercial team with additional tasks and projects as needed.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Colorado bar and in good standing.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in contract review, drafting, and negotiation, preferably in a corporate setting.
- Strong understanding of contract law and relevant regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
- A business-focused attitude and the ability to work well in a diverse team.
- Experience with the energy industry and emission regulations highly valuable though not required.
