SUMMARY

We are looking for a Software Engineer who is familiar with building systems using Python to join our Engineering team. Together with the team, you’ll shape Rasa Pro, our Conversation AI infrastructure product, which enables Enterprise developers to build, deploy and maintain complex AI assistants in a production environment. There are opportunities to lead architecture decisions and own the product. You’ll be collaborating with Engineers, Product Managers, Product Designers and you'll report to an Engineering Manager. We are building Rasa Pro in Python. We also have other teams developing our visual tooling ecosystem in Python, Node and React.

Full-time - Remote - Location: Serbia, UK, or Germany

ABOUT THIS ROLE

Software Development at Rasa is not only about writing Code. Your team will need your support to come up with good architectural designs, and quality code, and break an ambitious vision down into milestones and issues. As a Backend Engineer, you'll make an impact on your team by:

• Lead by example and drive feature work beyond just implementation, taking ownership of the whole product experience, for both Rasa Pro and Rasa Open Source.

• Be proactive in both product discovery and architecture discussions.

• Ask the right questions and move forward projects with uncertainties within the context of the team. Enable the team's delivery.

• Share and learn good software practices through code reviewing with your peers.

• Focus on solving user problems while designing systems. Avoid pitfalls to over-engineer or optimize prematurely.

• Navigate our tech stack: Python3, Redis, RabbitMQ, Postgres, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes among other technologies and frameworks

• Mentor junior developers and help them develop great software engineering skills

ABOUT YOU

• 3+ years of professional experience in Python

• Experience building complex, scalable, and highly reliable software systems

• Focus on delivery, quality, and engineering excellence

• Experience working in a product-led organization

• Ability to think ahead and anticipate technological challenges

• You take pride in teaching and learning from teammates, and enjoy constructive peer review in a respectful environment

• You're comfortable being lean and fix problems without waiting for someone to tell you to

• You can effectively communicate what you’re working on with other business functions

• You're able to deliver work under evolving requirements.

• You can work with various stakeholders to set priorities; you're able to handle competing priorities

• You will be working from Serbia, the UK, or Germany.

MEET YOUR TEAM

You will join the Atom squad, a team of 3 backend engineers, 1 QA engineer, and 1 Tech Lead, hailing from various places around the world, working remotely from Germany and the UK. You’ll partner with a Senior Product Manager.

This team is responsible for advancing the capabilities of the Rasa platform, from providing testing and observability features to our users to providing integrations across a wide range of use cases (search, human hand-off, caching, clouds, …). The team primarily ships features in Rasa Pro and Rasa Open Source, with an impact on all our products; it is part of the Developer tribe, alongside the Engine squad.
